So basically, I just downloaded the Optimine+Optifog mod and loved the brightness slider. It works great for night time. Then I started thinking.
Notch should add some type of variable for night time that makes it sometimes darker and sometimes brighter. Maybe make it to where sometimes there is no moon so the night is darker than usual. Also, make the opposite. On nights where the moon is out and bright, maybe brighten up the night a little more.
I'm sure this could lead to more interesting things to change at night time but for now, just this.
Do more mobs spawn the darker it gets? If so then this would be great for giving nights a variable difficulty.
I would love if that happens. Players would have to pay attention to the sky at night to see whether or not it's safe to go out. Like, if there is no moon, mobs get more life or spawn more than usual. Anything like that would be awesome.
Yeah, that would be nice. I think 1.8 will have a brightness slider in it, though I forget where I heard it.
That'll be cool if it happens. I was just hoping maybe for a gameplay element that affects brightness. Something that couldn't be controlled by players in vanilla Minecraft.
