Okay. I'm not sure if this has been posted before or not but I will say it anyways.
So my suggestion is to add triggers to the game. The idea behind it is that you specify two things. The first one we will call the trigger(if it helps you can also think of it as a requirement) while the second one we will call the, for lack of a better words, trigger effect. For the trigger you would tell the game what needs to be done before the trigger effect will be called. The trigger effect will be what will happen when the trigger requirement has been met. This would be mainly for map makers. I don't know what normal users would really do with it..
I am probably doing a terrible job at explaining this so I will try some examples.
Example 1:
Trigger-Day 4(Start)
Effect-Spawn Creepers(5) X,Y,Z
This example would spawn 5 creepers at the start of day 4. Of course we could expand on that and make it spawn the creepers near the player. This would easily be done by adding variables that represent player values(P1X, P1Y, P1Z, P1HP[P1X being player 1's X position, P1HP being player 1's health points)
The possibilities are endless. Hundreds of triggers and effects could be added. There could be one that triggers when a door is opened on a certain coordinate or when a block is removed or placed on certain coordinates.
Example 2: This would be useful in an arena type progression map where you go from arena to arena.
Trigger-Door Opened X,Y,Z
Effect-Heal Player, Give sword, etc
Example 3: Another one or an arena type map but with one arena.
Trigger-All spawners killed/monsters killed within 50 blocks of coordinates(X,Y,Z)
Effect-Teleport player outside arena. Spawn more spawners/monsters.
Example 4: This specific example was inspired by vechz's victory monument.
Trigger-Monument Completed
Effect-Popup saying "You have completed map xxxx. Thank you for playing."
I have thought of tons and tons of examples for this and think it would be a great tool for map makers. It would make for some very epic adventure maps.
The only problem I can see is how to incorporate this into the game. One of the easiest ways(Easy for users to use, not devs to make) that I can think of is to add a map maker type thing into minecraft that could be toggled between a creative mode type view and an mcedit type view. This would make adding triggers an easy thing with a simple menu or something.
Another way would be to make a standalone program to load the save game into and add the triggers.
That's about all I can think of right now. If I think of more I shall add it to the bottom of this post. Thanks for reading about my suggestion.
This is all in AdventureCraft... That is all i have to say.
It is not all in AdventureCraft.
I just looked at it and from what I saw all the triggers are block related and this prevents a lot of possibilities. What I am suggesting is not for a mod. It would be an awesome addition to the adventure mode that is coming.
Only if there was something when a condition was met something happened we could integrate this into programming languages we will call it a IF statement
joking aside this is something better handled by mods and stuff.

But these features should all be included in the normal game play.
