hello everyone, i don't know if this would be gamebreaking or anything but i recently thought that if i was able to travel between my worlds it would be quite amazing. this would allow me to use multiple seeds at the same time and to create even bigger base linked between portals. to make a world portal, i thought of simply using the same concept as a nether portal, but to put redstone on the portal before lighting it up. To be able to use the portal tho, you would have to create another one in another world, which i think would prevent players to be able to switch worlds too early to get ressources into another world, and would still be more fun than randommly generating the portal into the world you want to switch to, since you couldn't connect your bases together. when entering the portal, a delay like in the nether would be quite fine but instead of instantly teleporting, a menu should appear, like when you choose your world, but instead of simply spawing in it, you teleport in the second portal that you created in the second world. if you travel in a world, you will not gain the objects on the character of this world, but if you go with him in the game menu, you can simply leave your objects in a chest so that you can take them with your other world character. well i think this about sums it up. thank you for your attention and have a good day:)

Hypothetical: You read a thread in the Suggestions forum. You suddenly realize you've seen the idea before. Maybe it's a duplicate? No. Maybe it's just you? No. Maybe it's been done already? Very likely: Click here if there's a mod for that.
I likethis idea but after you set one world you cant change it nad if you rebuild the portal within 10 blocks of it it would lead to the same place but it asks if youre sure you want to connect too(world name here)
The problem is, let's say in your SSP diamonds are as rare as coal to you: you have 34 blocks in one chest alone. However, in your new SMP server, you have yet to find iron. You would take the diamond into the SMP world and use it to boost yourself. Seems fair, to me, but others don't like it. And if you've ever heard of Single Player Commands or Too Many Items, you'll know it's LUDICROUSLY easy to get several stacks of any item. You could bring items that are hard to get into your SMP server without even earning the items on your SSP, which would definitely be unfair.

well if you have to create a portal in the two worlds to get there at the first place you would need to have diamond to construct the portal, so that would ensure player don't transfer item too early to boost themselves. and for the multiplayer i didn't really think of it.
well, for just single player, im sure there's a way to exchange your nether file for another normal world file, you wouldn't get nether, but i dont see why it shouldnt work, any ideas?
