I think they should readd gears. The use of gears would be that they can be placed on walls and carry a current up a wall. So like:
Seeds are Redstone, Flint are gears, and grass is grass :biggrin.gif:. And this also goes for the other image, and stone is stone.
So the gears could carry the redstone from the bottom to the top so it would power something above, instead of having to make like:
To get power to things above. It is pretty much vertical redstone. But redstone is dust so it would fall off the walls, and gears stick to walls. So gears would make more sence then redstone climbing up a wall. :smile.gif: This is my suggestion.
Gears were only added because there wasn't redstone yet, now that we have redstone, we don't need gears anymore. Redstone is a lot more fun anyways and it doesn't lag your game as much as moving gears would :wink.gif:

It's not an optical illusion, it just looks like one.

All of this.

Hypothetical: You read a thread in the Suggestions forum. You suddenly realize you've seen the idea before. Maybe it's a duplicate? No. Maybe it's just you? No. Maybe it's been done already? Very likely: Click here if there's a mod for that.
Now read the topic, because I pressed enter to soon and I didn't get done explaining it. :biggrin.gif:
Simpler idea: Vertical redstone.

As was stated before, redstone makes gears pretty much obsolete. All that would be required to get the same effect would be for redstone to be place-able on walls as has been suggested a number of times.
Yeah it is pretty much vertical redstone. But redstone is dust so it would fall off the walls, and gears stick to walls. So gears would make more sence then redstone climbing up a wall. :smile.gif:

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. It's a VIDEO GAME. Dust can stick wherever it bloody well pleases.

On a side note: it would be nice to have redstone blocks that send signals like dust and could be moved with pistons. That way we could make things like that piano that was on the main page of these forums a while ago without having to install a mod. There are probably other uses for it but I am too lazy to think right now.

That design causes a significant delay between when you activate it and when it powers the item you are turning on
