I'm not one for large posts about basic suggestions as this, so this'll be short and sweet.
How about a toggle function for pistons to adjust the speed in which it pushes out and retracts? Could make traps and other devices possible if not interesting.
not like that i mean [Redstone] [Repeater] [Piston]
it controls how long the piston is open
That repeater would have little effect on it.
What would effect it is how long that redstone is powered and not powered, which is a different build all together.
But I thought he was talking about the actual opening/closing animation speed.
IE instead of it opening/closing nearly instantly, it would take 3 or 4 seconds after the animation had started.
In which case it would look nice, but still have basically no effect on game play.

Not that. I'm talking about it slowly moving out or in.
Ever watched Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull? When the team enter the temple near the end, they're in a small room with a staircase along the circular wall. Suddenly, the stairs slowly start to slide into the wall and the team must rush to get to the bottom or else fall to their deaths.
I'm talking about making pistons extend or retract at various speeds like that.

I think he means the actual movement rather than just the timing of when it opens/closes.
It would have a nice visual effect, but not much else.

How?
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
