I know sprinting and critical hits are on the way which will be game changers, but this is a list of possible 'skills', 'perks' or as I will call it 'sixth sense'. I also know being immune to lava or something isn't a sense, you will find non of that here.
Please note this isn't serious, just a little fun on my part.
You will only be able to choose one of these at the start of the game.
Spiritualist - 'Sense' your enemies are near, shows outlines of enemy mobs. Must be activated. Lasts X seconds with a recharge time of X minutes.
Naturalist - 'Sense' resources underground, shows outlines of resources. Must be activated. Lasts X seconds with a recharge time of X minutes.
Forecaster - 'Sense' the next drought or snowfall, command the skies by changing the weather at will. Must be activated. Recharge time of X minutes.
Times are "X" because I can't think of a balanced time system.
These could also be part of the achievement system, however more than one seems overpowering.

Spiritualist allows you to see enemy mobs outlines through blocks or in dark areas. Outlines are bright and noticeable, but are dim at a distance.
Naturalist allows you to see ore outlines through blocks or in dark areas. Outlines are bright and noticeable, but are dim at a distance.
Forecaster allows you to make it rain, snow, control lightning to a specific location, or simply make the skies clear.

Extra Senses
Weakness - 'Sense' your enemies weak spot, chance of instantly killing zombies, spiders, skeletons and creepers. Must be activated. Lasts X seconds with a recharge time of X minutes. (Seems too much like critical hits.)
Resourceful - 'Sense' the ores, chance of mining double the ore by only mining the rock around it. Doubles mining time. Must be activated. Lasts X seconds with a recharge time of X minutes. (Basically takes twice as long to mine an ore for a chance of double ore.)
I didn't feel these were very good (or even senses really), but kept them just in case.
I know you say you're doing this for fun, but adding this to Minecraft would lead it to Minecraft becoming more of an RPG. I don't want to start a war against whether that's the way it should be going, I'm just merely making the comment.
