I'm suggesting that someone creates a client that could fetch mods from an online database and display them within the client so the user may select mods to install to minecraft automatically. (The easiest method is probably to use some type of XML file to fetch a list of possible mods.) Once the user select the mod/mods, dependencies could be shown that are not selected already to warn the user of a possible problem. The files, once selected will be downloaded from the database and would be installed to the Minecraft client (of course deleting META-INF because if it doesn't do that automatically it's a game-breaker!)
The MD client will ask the user what version of the game they have installed and it will show only mods that are compatible with their version of Minecraft. (This beats sifting through 3.3 million [1.2.3] titles on the releases forum when you have version [1.2.4].)
If mod creators get vicious about not being able to monitor or get money from their creation... erm... too bad? (I'd probably stop here but I know that people will qq) a small client could be opened so the user has to click on the ad.fly "continue" button before being allowed to continue the download. And access data could simply be retrieved from the server.
Thoughts?

In any case, this is the wrong section as these are suggestions for minecraft it's self, not 3rd party clients.
