I looked at the minecraft wiki for an example of a generated village...
First of all, those are really big houses. :ohmy.gif: Maybe they should be a big smaller, like 6 blocks of room indoors for the pigs. Like huts, rather than large houses.
Second of all, the pigmen shouldn't allow you to enter their houses, that would be like free shelter. If you try to enter their houses, then they will kill you. Whenever a house is generated, a special block that cannot be placed by players will be in the doorway. If the player touches this block, every pigmen in the vicinity will attack the player.
Third of all, the pigmen should have chests in their houses, perhaps 1-2 items per chest because there will be many houses/huts. That way, you have a reward if you ransack a village of theirs and destroy it.
Fourth, pigman villages should slowly spread. If there's a pig man, eventually another pig man will spawn.
It will work like this. First there's a pig man, just wandering around, and of course there's his little house. Then, eventually another pig man spawns, with a house. Eventually, 2 more pigmen spawn, and basically they keep multiplying like a virus and putting houses.
Houses and pigmen will not spawn in water or lava, and pigmen will make sure that they do not stray into water or lava.
If they run out of room to make houses and pig men, they won't make anymore, but it should be a LONG time before this happens.
If you end up killing all of the pigmen, a pig man still OCCASIONALLY spawns in some random part of the minecraft world to restart the whole thing again.
Fifth, if you're near many pigmen that outnumber you, or walking through their village, or they are trying to spread into a spot where you're standing, they will attack you. And if possible, they will attack and destroy player-made things that are in the way of their slow colonization.
Theres already a mod which does some of this except their humans. Usually starts of with a village of a couple adults, men and women with some married who can give birth to kids and they grow up and the town grows. Also everything starts off small and made out of wood but they upgrade and build new buildings. It's called Millineere. Forgive my horrible spelling of it!

Blurgh, I don't want pigmen to be THAT complicated. Maybe they'll have variations in their buildings, but they won't evolve.

What the hell does a mod have to do with a part of the game coming in 1.8? Seriously, "a mod did it." is not an intelligent thing to say in a suggestion for the vanilla game.
I agree with assassin though, expansion would have to be linear, not exponential. Plus doing land generation in already loaded chunks seems like a ***** to program. I would single handedly destroy any villages I see to keep them from spreading.

I KNOW, RIGHT??? to you for saying something that wins so epically.
Would it be less easy to program if houses were made one at a time, and pigmen were added one at a time? That would be kind of strange, not having every pigmen "give birth" LOL but it may make it easier to program? I don't know much about programming in java

So you want an other mushroom occurrence?
It would have to be programmed linearly and not exponentially.
The Sun rises in the North! Now these points of data make a beautiful line...
Okay, I'm fine with that.
And yeah, I want another mushroom occurence, except of course pigmen won't grow in the dark :tongue.gif:
