First of I do know the piston duplication was a bug and that it probably would be patched.
But I have also experienced some of the most fun I have had with minecraft in a while. I built a factory that duplicated both diamond and TNT for self mining. It lead to a lot of work building it up, and it worked just like a real factory with machines randomly stopping. Redstone dust being uprooted by explosion and every now and then a catastrophic failure. I even "hired" some friends to help with the constant maintenance work.
So what I'm suggesting is that we can build a new type of machine for production of various blocks.
This should obviously work a lot slower than in the bug, and it probably should require some expensive components to even it out.
Maybe we could have a machine that slowly multiply whatever you insert in it? So you put 1 stack of iron blocks into the machine and the machine produces 4 stacks. If one piston could be set up to crush blocks as well this would be a lot of fun.
why dont you download TMI, but like put down the blocks for diamonds and gold and iron instead of just getting the ingots and diamonds from it. i mean, its cheating, but so was the other thing. and you might think "why wouldnt i just take what i want?" because that ruins the fun.
