Minecraft is a very fun and interesting game, and there's plenty to do as it is already. But it does become very repetitive and gets a little dull after a while. What's the point in building up a house, a cave system, a town, a city, etc. if it doesn't really server a purpose beside shelter and decoration? Not to mention, once you have good defenses and a base of operations or whatever you want to call it, you're pretty much safe for the rest of your playing time. You might come across an occasional creeper or other type of hostile mob that gets in your way, but other than that, you rarely have to fend them off unless they are a threat or in your way. One suggestion I have, is to make the game a little more challenging from more than just the beginning. It is survival mode after all, right? I like the ideas of things spawning in the dark, but there should be more, and it should search for you. Do whatever it can to get to you, and make things more difficult. Maybe that could be a setting to increase spawn rates, or make hostile mobs smarter than what they currently are.
I understand that the adventure update is being developed, and I like a lot of the concepts that are being introduced for it. But of course, there is still a lot missing from this game that could make such a better experience for players, and keep them playing. Another suggestion to spice things up a bit is adding more mechanics to the game. Possibilities of caves collapsing in on you or by themselves after a period of time if not structured properly, more gravity effects on different blocks beside gravel and sand, standing water developing during rainfall, possibility of floods, minerals that can respawn after a very long period of time(that way after a tunnel's resources are diminished, it isn't completely useless), tall grass regrowing, certain non-durable blocks like dirt and cobblestone decaying over long periods of time, the list goes on and on. Incorporating at least a couple of the things I've listed would provide a more realistic and more challenging aspect to the game in my opinion. That way, when a person settles down, they still have other things to worry about, such as the these things. This is my opinion of course, but I'd like to hear other people's opinions as well, and maybe additions or revisions to some of the things I've said. So what do you guys think?
Hypothetical: You read a thread in the Suggestions forum. You suddenly realize you've seen the idea before. Maybe it's a duplicate? No. Maybe it's just you? No. Maybe it's been done already? Very likely: Click here if there's a mod for that.
...
Hey, good ideas! The decaying and gravity on a badly structured building could be a bit hard to code though, but I don't know because I'm not a coder.
In this game it is currently impossible. Blocks are all calculated as individual entities. There would need to be a sizable code rewrite to make it work.

Yes I realize that, not all of it has to be implemented. They're just suggestions. But for anything to work or be added, there has to be at least a little bit of code rewrites and such
There isn't as much of a clear idea here, I think it would be better suited for the discussion sub-forum.

NO. Don't click New Thread. Read the rules. I don't give a damn how long or boring they are. If you do not, you will be subject to massive flaming and criticism by yours truly.
Anyway, a good idea, but some of the charm is being able to make wacky structures and not have to worry about it falling down around you. And if dirt decayed naturally, eventually there would be a 2-4 block thick cave under almost everything.

I meant if it was used to create a structure. But yeah, that would be a pain of course, could scratch that. I apologize for no indentation and everything, wasn't completely sure if it would format right, and I just wanted to get my main point down, lol.
Ahhh I think some mobs are already smart enough though...
= Me = Big hole
They just stand there on the other side staring at me. They don't fall in... That's pretty smart if you ask me...
Idk I would lkie to see them have actual pathfinding, dependent on creature type. Skeletons, Spiders, and Creepers would try and find a way around a pit or a wall to you, but Zombies should aimlessly wander into pits of death.

Yeah, I agree, that would make things a lot more interesting. And I know something like that could be done. Maybe even make certain creatures able to open doors or something. Which could then introduce a new crafted item for heavier protection, the lock. Lol

Skeletons shouldn't try to reach you, they can hit you from a distance. What they need is a better aiming mechanic.
