Minecraft content can get old, at least for me and my server. Once I've made a several luxury homes, mined and crafted all the stuff I need, and made a nice city, the game starts to get boring. I think some new items/spawns should be added to fix this.
First of all, I think there should be a quick change to SMP. A spawned diamond block obviously isn't as much of an achievement as a mined and crafted one. So, I have the idea to make spawned items names appear in red. Also, when a spawned block is placed, mousing over it will cause the cursor to turn red. Items crafted with any red items will also become red. If you make a diamond block with diamonds that are red (any number of them) your block will also have a red name/mouse-over effect.
Next, some new, rare items should be added. A list of them is below.
Also, a suggest a new type of dungeon. It is a room with a door facing a cavern like in a normal dungeon. Inside there are 1-10 doors in a labyrinth/hallway full of continually spawning monsters, each leading to a small or large room with monster spawner(s) and chests. In each room there is a button/lever that must be pressed, unlocking the next room. Once the button in every room is pressed, a final room with many monster and/or a boss monster will be unlocked. The loot in these dungeons will include some of the items below. The boss would also drop rare items. The dungeon could be made of some sort of stone that is solid like bedrock until the boss is killed, after that it becomes cobblestone or regular stone.
Finally, some new items should be added, they are rare and hard to find, but can help make things that will be very helpful to the player, such as potions or enchantments.
Items-
Rare Gems-
Gems that can be mined or found in dungeons such as emeralds and rubies, they can be used to make special items, potions, or other new things. A diamond pick surrounded by emeralds will increase mining speed by 50%. A diamond pick surrounded by rubies will make a pick that lasts twice as long as normal. They could also be made into shiny new blocks.
Broken Tools-
When a tool is broken, it should then appear in the inventory as a broken tool (e.x. "Broken Diamond Pickaxe"). Now, repair kits can be crafted. Three diamonds, three workbenches, three chests, and possibly and item made from hard to get gems would make a "Diamond Repair Kit" the block could be place-able, with a small meter at the bottom like a tool. When right clicked with a broken diamond tool or piece of armor, the item would be repaired back to full durability. It would have 20 or so uses, and the number of uses used up would depend on the item. A broken pair of boots would take 4, a shovel, 1, and a pick, 3. When the block is used up, it disappears.
Potions-
First, vials would need to be crafted using glass, and possibly cork (maybe a chance for refining logs to give some cork. Then, rare herbs (such as moss found on cave walls or special purple flowers found growing in remote locations in the wild) some rare gems, and a few existing items like gunpowder, bones, or raw pork could be mixed in a vial to create a potion. Some would be easy to craft and would give temporary bonuses, like +20 hearts over 10 seconds, or 100% faster movement for 1 minute, or temporary flying, water walking, or invincibility. Maybe 10 minutes of having a strong electro-magnetic field around them that disarms or delays creepers, or causes them to run to you and give you some gunpowder or possibly a nice gem they found, before falling over dead. Some potions would be very hard to craft and would require tons of items (maybe 2 stacks of 20 emeralds and 10 purple flowers). These would give small, permanent bonuses like allowing regenerating hearts every time you sleep and also every 1 minute, and giving increased bonuses from food. Possibly giving the character more that 10 maximum health or letting them dig faster with their hands and receive items when breaking blocks with their fist (i.e. ability to get coal from a vein just by punching it).
These items would add more fun to the game and a larger amount of content to complete. I think they should be added to the game so that people on SMP will envy my shiny emerald floors and 4 extra health. I strongly think they should be added to the game. Please tell me why I am right or wrong in the comments, and tell me about what you would change, add, or get rid of.
NO. Don't click New Thread. Read the rules. I don't give a damn how long or boring they are. If you do not, you will be subject to massive flaming and criticism by yours truly.
1) No. It'd be annoying as hell when I visit a lot of places I helped build. Places are built by someone, and even if they were designed via program it's still a bit of code to write.
2) Dungeons are being updated in 1.8
3) These have absolutely no point. They are basically diamond pickaxes only stronger, which is ridiculous since diamond is usually the strongest object in a game.
4) You can construct new ones. Repairing old ones sounds plain lazy
5) There was a mod which was just bumped to the front. Download and install.

Wait... You have done everything you want to with a limited attention span and now the game is boring?
So you want Notch to add MORE stuff for your limited attention span so you can again use, master, and become bored of the game where you ask for even MORE STUFF?

It's a vicious cycle. Practice some self control.
