I couldn't find any topics about this, maybe I didn't look hard enough but here it is.
Rope: A stretchable, thrown leash similar to a fishing rod with multiple possibilities and limits to avoid abuse (of both me and the rope).
-Boat docking: Able to right click on a block within 5 seconds of leaving a boat (or while in a boat if that would be hard to code) and have the boat 'leashed' to that block, so it doesn't float away. I've noticed lately if you jump off a boat the boat shoots off in the opposite direction, and is annoying to retrieve.
-Mob Hook: Usable to bring an enemy to you if there are no blocks obstructing the path. Would not be overpowered since you want to keep Creepers and Zombies away, but useful to close distance with Skeletons quickly. Range of 5-10 blocks
-Grappling Hook (Read before flaming): Usable with a limited range of 4-5 BLOCKS. Main use would be to pull yourself up onto a ledge without having to leave an ugly and/or mob-accessible trail behind you. Particularly useful in a possible Adventure mode. Suggested cooldown of at least several seconds while you fall so you couldn't insta-win your way up a sheer cliff face.
-Abseiling rope: Maybe used in conjunction with a harness (chest equipped) and a leashing post/block at the top of a straight decline to descend quickly and cleanly. Again, useful in Adventure mode where you aren't running around placing ladders everywhere and don't plan to use the same path twice. Possible limits include not getting the rope back from the bottom, or leaving the leashing post at the top but taking the rope with you.
Please leave comments with your likes/dislikes and other possible implementations. Cheers :biggrin.gif:
I like! But grapple hooks are OP! You need to make them so that people cant climb a mountain with one... like you have to drop before you can use it again.

I made a Sig!
Thanks for the replies, and this especially :biggrin.gif:
Perhaps Grappling Hooks could be Adventure mode/non-build mode only? That way you can use them to adventure up a storm, but not climb where other people haven't intended it. I'll keep coming up with more uses and add them later :smile.gif:
Edit: I LAFF YOU Bit Wizard. I mentioned a few seconds cooldown on the GH so you effectively fall as far as you would climb, but I'll admit it does seem to make randomly generated cliffs somewhat redundant.

Your post did not state that during the cooldown you would "Fall". I thought you would Stay attached to whatever you grappled to untill you jumped or Grappled again.

Thanks to Bit Wizard for the sig.
But the grappling hook is still OP in my opinion.
