If you jump you can hit the block but you will fall right.
My idea is if we hit the block the avatar will grab the block and if we press SPACE in the keybor repeatedly the player will rise and get in the top of the block.

This is an intresting idea, but it would ultimatly eliminate the use for latters. Obsticles like mountains would become simple jumps. Getting out of a cave would be childs play. I dont think this is a great idea. Maybe if it was limited to 2-3 blocks, but thats still pushing it...
I was about to give slight support, but Brentyn provides an interesting arguement. Mabye if it was only limited to being able to stop after 2-3 blocks it would be alright, but otherwise it just makes the falling aspect of the game meaningless.
I think what op meant by grabbing on is like when you can just barely not make that distance jump and you hit the wall and fall to your death. of course the idea could grow. like you still take some damage from long falls even when you grab a ledge.
maybe something like grabbing a ledge not the block it self, and you would have to have your hands out to do this action, jump and grab a ledge you can't get over. a block is sticking out, you can jump and latch on to the ledge, if it's not a ledge you cant climb it. so a fence could be jumped over by a player which could be bad but now you can stack them so idk, just a thought.

This idea is too op, it needs more of a danger, so that was instead of merilly doing it, you have a chance of something happening;
Grass: Chance of your hands slipping, leaving your hands filled with mud [Inability to use tools for 3 minutes]
Stone: Chance of stabbing your hand, causing you to fall [Damage upon getting cut, inaccuracy with hands]
Cobblestone: Chance of the stones falling apart, landing on you [Removes block, rocks drop from it's original position*
Wood: Chance of splintering your hand [Inability to use tools for 3 minutes]
Ore blocks: Very high chance of the block falling [causes block to drop, as if pushed by a piston [Block falls, as well as you (immobility for .3 seconds), it can pin you to the ground, slowly crushing you with the ore, doing damage]
Obsidian: Very, very high chance of you slipping [Does damage, inability to grab for 10 minutes]

Im saying that the jump will be like left to right not up to down.
It will be like large jumps.
