EDIT: For those of you who don't like to read, NO this is not the same as dropping items into lava. I think only one person who's replied so far has actually read the suggestion. The incinerator destroys BLOCKS not the item, and then DROPS the item.
Automated block destruction is a mechanism we don't have, but would be incredibly useful.
The recipe could be something like this:
The diamond could be replaced with wood/stone/iron/gold. The incinerator would be placed with one output direction, and would automatically destroy any block in front of it when powered with redstone, at the same speed that the appropriate tool of the material it was created with would - if I made one with diamond, it would mine stone at the same speed as a diamond pick, chop wood at the same speed as a diamond axe, etc. After a block is destroyed, its resource drop pops out as normal.
This would have some really great synergy with pistons, allowing for the automatic farming of many things, and plenty of other emergent gameplay.
You're right, I should have seen that coming. :sad.gif:
Rename to Autominer or something. People are going to hate it just as much, but for a different reason.

Well, since no one has a real opinion on the actual topic, I guess it's up to me to spur a little discussion.
How would this idea actually be useful? I can only think of one case in which this could be used (an auto-mining cobble stone farm), and that might be a little over-powered. As for all other cases in which it might be used, don't you have to mine the block in the fist place just to put it in front of this auto-miner?

I'm almost 100% positive that this have been suggested before but i'll suggest it again anyways
It might be a cool thing to fool around with as a mod, but I don'tnthink it should be part of vanilla minecraft, since a block that mines things seems a little out-of-place.
And you could just have a pit with lava in it. JK, jk :tongue.gif:

That's actually an excellent point, and shows how much thought I put into this before posting it. :/ Well, this is awkward.
First of all, the Report Button is NOT a toy. "This guy accused me of not reading. :sad.gif: " is not a valid report. All of you need to think before you report.
Second of all, how ****ing hard is it to READ a suggestion before bashing it?! Next person to post off-topic is getting a warning.
Well I think it's quite a good idea, but it should have limitations, otherwise players would be obsolete (ghasp!) and would get lazy.
Also, I think you should change your title : an incinerator usually is realted to using fire to DESTROY things, and that's why people are relating it to lava.
I'm gonna have to say no. You can attach this to a cobblestone generator, and basically get unlimited cobblestone, without having to lift a finger. People could build castles, without having to mine a single thing. A little too OP if you ask me.

Steel is my body, and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to death, Nor known to life
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works

I find this hilarious because it follows directly after me reporting the five or six people who didn't read ,for "off-topic" posts.

As long as this tool had some sort of durability (maybe about the same as the tool tier that it is crafted at) you would still have to mine to get the crafting materials each time it breaks down. That said, it's already been pointed out why this idea would not have many other applications.

How do you guys feel about this?
And no, we don't really need a block that does our work for us.
you can do cool thongs with that, like - you could have a cobble generator that pushes fresh cobblestone onto a conveyor belt

Curse PremiumThen again, I certainly don't see people asking for either mod to be put into vanilla either. :tongue.gif:
