Hi everyone.
I just came up with a great idea - it has been stuck in my head for a while now.
I would like to see different coloured beds. You could use colored wool in the crafting recipe to create that type of coloured bed! Eg. Blue wool with wooden planks = Blue bed (Not red bed.)
So if you just use normal wool, it will create a white bed. You would need red wool to create the default red bed.
Every single person has been wanting this since the beginning of beds, but I think I know why it isn't implemented already. Even though we have lots of different wool colors, they still all use a single block ID. This is much like stairs and slabs, like how it takes a PICKAXE to break down a WOODEN slab properly. For this to work, all of the wool blocks might need to get their own unique ID's (as a nubcake to coding, I wouldn't know for sure.)

I see. Maybe Notch could possibly implement different ID's for different colours of wool if this idea gets through.
We could make colored beds the same way wool is implemented. Wool colors are sub-id's of the wool id, 35:0-35:15, the bed ID's would correspond to the colors, so bed 355:0-355:16. Shouldn't be that hard to implement, the only thing is that it might complicate textures. Not sure how wool is currently used in textures. Also, rainbow beds, although they sound awesome, would be tough :biggrin.gif:.

The same thing goes for logs and saplings. They each have their own sub id, depending on the variety of tree.

Here is a blue bed crafting recipe.
I have been thinking of that myself! :smile.gif:
And if you use multiple colors of wool. . . Rainbow beds! :biggrin.gif:
