Alright so I'm thinking if you bake sandstone you get sandstone glass which does this:
1: Its a lot harder than glass
2: Its not completely transparent, like it looks like it slightly transparent but very cloudy so you couldn't actually see anything through it.
3: light goes through it but its dimmed by 10-30% (25?)\
Good for Multiplayer:
Glowstones are a good form of lighting, but sunlight is 1000x better and if you don't want people to be able to see inside your house you can.
Aesthetics:
You can control how bright some areas are, like have a glowstone or just a regular sky light and put how many sandstones you want in between to change the brightness of it.
If the sandstone glass was translucent then I think glowstone would be just as effective for lighting.

NO. Don't click New Thread. Read the rules. I don't give a damn how long or boring they are. If you do not, you will be subject to massive flaming and criticism by yours truly.

You forget sunlight reaches infinitely farther than glowstone, and glowstone only reaches a few blocks. There is also the fact that sunlight can kill mobs, which makes this more useful than glowstone, but it'd also block the transparency of glass which might be useful for some people.
It also might just look better if someone wants to do it for looks, which they most likely would. Infact this would be pretty good for stained glass, because from what I've seen stained glass is very hard to see through.
