Has anyone considered the fact that all the animals in mincraft are somehow boneless? Or that only the pigs actually have meat? Seriously, how realistic is it to have to kill two or three cows just to make a pair of leather boots or a leather cap? So here's my idea: Animal drops should be much more significant. For example, a single cow might drop five leather, three bones, and four beef chops. A chicken might produce two feathers, one bone, and one chicken drumstick. You get the pattern. Obviously, this would have significant benefits for food production and would additionally enable people who play on peaceful to tame wolves, as they would normally have to kill skeletons to obtain bones. In order to counterbalance this, a few different methods could be implemented. One would be to simply make the animals harder to kill. This might mean increasing their health and would almost certainly involve enabling animals to flee from the player after being attacked. Another method could be making the resources more difficult to harvest. For example, it could be made so that meat could only be obtained my making the kill with a sword or axe (as the meat would be difficult to cut up otherwise) or that leather could only be obtained from cows and pigs through the use of a special skinning knife or something of the sort, much the way sheep now only produce significant amounts of wool if sheared with shears. (Well, of course! What else do you shear with?) Please consider. Let me know what you think.
-Mining would take 10 hours to get to iron
-There would be no Ore blocks, just raw blocks that can be messed up each and every time you try to smelt it
-Angry muggers would attack you, and leave you with a dagger in your arm
-People would walk around, saying when the next doomsday is
-Giant Spiders would be replaced with air
-No current Hostile Mobs would exist
-Your boats could fill up with water and sink
-Minecarts could go derailed
-Redstone would be Rubies
-Jewlery would be implemented
-Armour wouldn't be added
-Instead of swords, you would have guns
-Instead of a crafting table, you would just have a Hardware Bench
-There would be a large chance of having gas in caves blow up the second you place a torch in there
-Once you died on Minecraft in single player, you're done. Forever.
-Tanks would be the new Pigs
-Farmers would have pigs in pens
-Cows would not go astray
-Lumberjacks would be constantly taking the world's trees, making it harder to get resources
-Any mods would not exist
-Wolves could NEVER be tamed. Ever.
-There would be only one Hostile Mob; Chuck Norris
-Graffiti could be written in the walls of caves
-The Nether wouldn't exist
-Obsidian made into a portal would just look strange
-You would have to carefully mine
-You would have to watch out for thieves during night
-Beds would no longer provide safety
-Gold would make you rich
.... I could just go on and on about what Mine Craft IRL would be like, but I think I should stop here.
Goodness, I had no idea suggesting realistic features in minecraft was so extremely offensive. Personally, I just find it extremely boring to have to go around killing dozens of animals to generate enough resources to do things. It's not like its that much easier to go kill one cow than to go kill five cows, it's just more time consuming. Anyway, if you don't like the idea, that's fine and I respect that. Thanks for the feedback! to all of you!

Don't spam smileys. Your fictional pixels mean nothing to us other than spam. And we don't care about realism. We care about fun. And some of the fun is in the challenge to get some items, even if the challenge is only finding enough of them to kill (Although leather armor is kind of pointless anyways seeing how any miner runs into tons of iron).

I'd support the hunt for animal resources being a legit challenge if it was done right...But it wasn't here.

Hypothetical: You read a thread in the Suggestions forum. You suddenly realize you've seen the idea before. Maybe it's a duplicate? No. Maybe it's just you? No. Maybe it's been done already? Very likely: Click here if there's a mod for that.

I'm sorry if that constitutes spam. I was just trying to respond to negative (and somewhat disrespectful) feedback in a positive and upbeat way. In any event, the point is now moot because the changes suggested here have been implemented anyway.
