Wouldnt it be cool, to add animal life, and to go with them... traps!
using different components and the new pistons to make fun creature traps.
I sugest some simple functions should be added such as:
a tripwire
a deadweight
claw traps (stop movement when stepped on)
these would add more of a survivaly aspect to single player when hunting the fearsome piggy or online when defendiing chests or ridding the world of the other pesky players
thoughts?
tripwires: three of string lined across. when touched by a mob sends the impulse of a lever or button, and then breaks itself.
snare: a circle of string with sticks on corners and a feather for the trigger.
ex: (torch = string (no string picture))
i thought the use for a snare would be to hold a mob and then reduce movement to vertical only movement when touching the snare. i imagine putting one above a pitfall, mob touches it, and is forced down in the pit with no escape. Another would be butting the snare by a water source, and when careless mobs wander in they are stuck half in the water, half in the snare, free for the killing
Deadweight trap:
a mass of cobblestone fastened together by string. is hung from another block such as a tree. when a clumsy mob activates a tripwire or other means of activation, the weight drops on the mob hurting and or pinning it. this would be a useful treasure trap, or for getting rid of roaming spiders and zombies
This is actually kind of a cool idea. The concept and details need refining, but I could see a use for traps. Perhaps they could also work on opposing players in SMP?

Ya, it would be a nice suprise to smp players who are used to expecting ungodly complex redstone wiring for the simplest of door traps... add a more cautios aspect fo robbers and a nice way to catch/farm mobs
