Yes, I've already tried the 'Better than Wolves' mod. Like I said earlier, the block in the mob is limited to a one-block range, lowering its number of applications.
Sounds cool, but I think you can get the same results using a pressure pad and a little extra wiring. This is basically a wireless pressure pad. It would be nice, but not different enough to add into the game.
Wrong! If you had read the OP carefully, you would have seen why pressure plates do NOT perform all the functions of this block.
Sensor Type 1 would trigger if anything moved across its field-of-vision that was not glass, which is a great idea if you want to set up a secured area where nothing goes undetected. Such as the passageways leading into your base.
Sensor Type 2 would only trigger if it sensed a Block, a Mob, a Player, or other Entity, ignoring glass as well as Drop Items, allowing (first thing I thought of, actually) you to tell if you had something coming through your Grinder Loot Shot that was not a Drop Item. One way, I feel, to intelligently re-direct any chickens caught in the plumbing into their own personal Chicken Grinder....
Sensor 1 should use my suggested Plank-based Recipe, while Sensor 2 should either furnace-cooked Stone or Iron ingots. This is my opinion....
I think the eye should be crafted with redstone, not glowstone, because it's part of redstone circuitry and should have redstone somewhere in the crafting.

I think it'd be sweet. It would make the game feel more spy-ish around houses and bases (eye=security camera). Although I'm not sure whether I like the actual eye picture on the block. Maybe just a stone block with a small redstone-coloured square in the middle would look better.
So it is essential like a(n) (invisible) tripwire or laser line traps in real life? That be awesome.
By the way, the only changes I'd have is the recipe and a few other things. Something like:
Key:
= Glass
= Redstone
= Glowstone
= Interchangeable material, can be whatever the edges would be. For example, a Cobblestone one would have the "eye" or lens or whatever part on. I like your Smooth Stone and Wood ideas.
Reasoning behind the recipe: The Glowstone would emit the invisible light beam, and be sent through a "lens" (glass). The Redstone is at the back/bottom to power wires.
That leads me to this: Since glowstone would make sense in the recipe, it could also give a less-than-redstone-torch light level emission, along with the area the "line" would be in. However, as I said, if it is implemented it should be low light, detectable only in (perhaps) Monster-spawnable conditions?

If I try to fail and I succeed, what did I really do?

Fully automatic Sugar Cane Farm! Have the eyes 1 block above the planted sugar cane, and have pistons break them through the eye's redstone charges. :smile.gif:

I am meowing at my lung’s fullest. I would even argue that the echo that reverberates back to me is the voice of someone I know…
The yellow flower is glowstone, and the red is redstone.I think the only way this block can power redstone is by ONLY have the redstone outlet in the backk.

I like this. Adding to OP...
Nice idea. Better than wolves mod has a block that's like a dumbed down version. It only detects things right in front of it.
You could just use an inverter + the normal eye.

Either that, or blocks that reflect it, similar to Portal 2's redirection cubes. They are still blocky, but reflect light.
