Maybe it could be unwillingy the Fog would happen? Its like "theres the obelisk take the armor and sword and try too survive" maybe more like "New morning, but...why is it fog? I didnt hit the "f" button..." Maybe something else could trigger it? Anyway very good idea! Creeeeeeeepy.... Mob Idea!
The glares.
The glares is something you would see tn the Fog when its very deep. You would see 2 eyes sit in the shadows and when you turn around to run you would se more eyes! Until you are sourrounded by eyes they one after one atttack you. They do 2 hearts each and will disappere and come back out off nowwhere so they are very difficuld to kill. Though they only have 1 heart...
The fog people.
The fog peaple are wolf riding barbarians will small clothes bits left and destroyd skin. They are the old minecraftian people that was cursed by the Fog master! They unleashd the fog but got killed themselfes...They have 10 hearts and got wood swords and take 5 hearts on hit.
The fog master!
The fog master is the soul of the man ho was buried and trapped into the obelisk and waits there silent for you to get to the obelisk and he will try to kill you! He can teleport got 20 life cast evil creatures at you. He looks like Herobrine with the clothes dark like the fog itself. His eyes are pich black. He will drop the blocks needed to refill the obelisk ruins.
I like the idea, but as you define it, it would not work. If the Fog "eats" and destroys wild blocks (smooth, dirt, gravel) to spread, then to get outside of the cave, it would have to destroy the cave, and it would be impossible to get to the obelisk again because the cave would be gone, and the oblisk would a be a floating monument. And your entire world would be destroyed too, of course, because caves are aunderground, and the Fog would set a path of destruccion as it spreads.
Or, if the Fog only destroys player made blocks (cobble, wool, planks...) then, the Fog would take FOREVER to get out of the original cave, and the player would have more than enough time to surround with obsidian and don't care at all about the Fog.
Anyways... all these suffering just for one armor and one sword? You are bringing the end of the world! Maybe the reward should be a little more tempting? :tongue.gif:
As I said, I like the idea, but I think it still needs a little more work on it. If it were a mod, I most probably would download it withouut any doubts, but in the original game... I don't think I want it.
Ahem...
The Fog only eats away at blocks that the player has places, with varying levels amounts of time needed to destroy certain blocks, with obsidian taking the longest.
It only destroys blocks that the player has placed.
On another note: I am staying at my grandmas house for the next few days, so she can help me balance out the idea and flesh it out more. She likes this sort of stuff.

What if some newbs just go down, see a sword and armor, think "what a nice find" take it, die, and then have their game ruined? And you could just take the stuff, block the cave with tons of obsidian, and never worry about it again. It would also be difficult to code, and and blocks already placed by players would not be logged as such, meaning your old shelters would be entirely safe from any fog.

When you get the items, you die and respawn at the original spawn point, with no items but the sword and armor. By the time you get back to the cave to re-seal it, the fog would have escaped the cave.
Not to mention, the obsidian you place would be worn away. It would only take (15?) seconds to get through each block, so even with a four-obsidian thick wall, you only get one extra minute.
someone please send this to notch!!!!i really like this idea and mabey it only spawns when you make a compass like item to show you where it is so that way noobs cant ruin there world by accident, and mabey make the compass super hard to make like it has 5 peices to make the whole compass and each peice has 5 items to make it,that way its hard to get so you dont destroy your world by accident.
mabey when the sky lands comes out that and the nether when you go in will be uneffcted by the fog if you close the portal in time, and if you want to try and stop the fog open the portal go back into the realworld and try,but if you leave the portal open when you leave for too long it will get into that world too.
Really Really cool!
But like mentioned earlier the minecraft world is huge so the obelisk cant really be "anywhere"
Perhaps a portal made of the black and white stuff? Takes you to the obelisk... like a nether portal???

Oooh sounds nice!
I would never do that though. Like, I can't even spelunk on any mode higher than easy.
I like the intro. I think there should be some reward for the whole fog business after you seal the cave. Like inside there is still the chest you got the armor and sword from- and in it are goodies.
Very nice idea!
The main reason I don't really like it is it almost seems as if there are two games: Minecraft, and the Fog. One is a sandbox game about exploring, building, mining and crafting in a pseudo-fantasy world. The other is about fighting and desperation in. They don't have much in common, other then both taking place in the same world. It just isn't like the rest of minecraft.
This may be an apocalyptic, fog-blinded landscape but there are limits on how powerful a small monster can be. Comprend?
Clicks please!

i agree with you it would be better as a mod.

Still more to come! And they are going to get more and more powerful as I add them.
Oh, and I think that, the closer to the obelisk you are, the stronger the enemies spawn.
I was mostly thinking of something that the player could do once they have their world conquered. They activate the Fog and undertake the challenge.
Your grandma sounds like a pretty cool gal that doesn't afraid of anything.
She's combat level 100 something on runescape.
She likes minecraft but just can't quite figure it out.
Don't mess with her.
You have an awesome sounding grandma.

I'll add that to the OP if I still like it after thinking it over for a while.
