Hey guys!
I just had an idea, (and i'm sure many others have had this same idea) to put emotes in the game. I think they would enhance RP experiences along with just normal SMP gameplay. I don't spend much time on the forums so i'm not sure if anyone has posted this before, but i felt the need to post anyway lol.
Some examples might be:
-Sitting
-Greeting (waving)
-High fives
-Hugs
-Etc.
If not anything else, i think sitting should just be implemented period haha
Idk though, it's all just an idea. :smile.gif:
EDIT*
As DSYplex said, emotes could also be used in films. Don't forget to consider how fast and popular films are becoming over minecraft. I do however, agree that emotes, if they were to be implemented, be one of the last things minecraft needs. I strongly believe there are more important issues to be fixed first. I just don't think it would be a bad idea to eventually get them in there. It may just give the game a little more "lively" feeling.

wave punch up high five punch each other hug sneak on each other sit sneak in front of stair
Well the main thing i'm trying to get across is sitting because it's kind of a pain to hold the sneak key the whole time, not to mention it doesn't really look like your actually sitting. I mean, sitting could also be used as an AFK animation too. Idk i just thought i would bring it up and see what people thought.

On some computers you can bind Sneak to Caps Lock and it will become a toggle option. I have heard that it only works on Mac though, and I just tested it on PC and sadly it doesn't work for me.

In time I would like to see this added to the game, but for now I think there are more important things to fix.
But I see the point of this. Just something simple as a waving animation would do wonders for the social aspect in the multiplayer. Having a way to stand out among all the other players would be nice.
A problem right now in large multiplayerservers is that you will see the nickname of the player who are talking to you, but you need to get pretty close to a group of players before you can clearly read the name tags over their heads. Having a wave option would enable you inform other players on witch character is yours at a much larger distance.
Having a inactivity animation would be helpful as well, it's sometimes hard to tell what a character that is standing perfectly still is doing. Are they interacting with a chest or crafting table? Are they typing something in the chat? Or are they simply inactive? With a few simple animations you would be able to see the difference right away.
If you know it's probably suggested before, please don't post. Many good ideas have get lost because of people like you.
Yeah uhm don't blame me. This is my first and only post, everyone is allowed to post and share their ideas. If i would have seen a post on emotes before than i wouldn't have posted BUT since i didn't, i posted. You don't need to be a douche.

An angel visited this gray path and took the cube away.
