Basically, I'm not going to start treading around the topic as if walking on broken glass. I'm going to give it to you straight.
My suggestion suggests a few new additions:
-A new type of craftable block
-A new tool
-A new use for gold
-A new use for solid stone blocks.
The new type of craftable block is none other than the artifact. The way to craft it is by taking 8 blocks of solid/smooth stone and making a chest or furnace shape out of it. then, in the center, you place any type of item in. Then you are given a block that looks almost like stone, but with an older sort of grainy texture to it. In the center of the block texture is the item that you placed in the crafting recipe (NOTE: This does not mean that all the items need a new texture. We don't want to waste space on the terrain.png. All the items use the currently available texture.) Then, you get a placeable block called the artifact block. Upon breaking the block, you receive the block back. The new tool is called the chisel. Rightclicking an artifact block will yield one smooth stone block. On the eighth right click you recieve a smooth stone block and the item on the inside. That way, you dont waste any blocks. The chisel is crafted by making a diagonal line with 2 sticks and an ingot/diamond. The new use for gold is simple. When you finish chiseling the block, the item has a 25 percent chance of dropping another item of the same type, only if using a gold chisel. Wood chisels arent craftable because they'd break too easily. That is the basic part of it. Some uses for it would be making an underground sort of civilizational artifacts for players to find in custom maps, or maybe making a dinosaur excavation map by making bone artifacts. You could also use this for making mines, as placing coal or diamonds will create an ore block, but this only requires 1 stone block. Unfortunately, lapiz and redstone don't work because the turnout rate would be more than the cost, creating infinite redstone machines.
So, theres my paragraph, tell me what you think (NOT a tl;dr, I don't have time for those.)
no, sorry but no. its got no real purpose not even astectically
Did you read the article? The uses are abundant... You could do a lot of things with this if you opened your imagination a little bit. You could use it for making awesome custom maps anyway.
