The contents of this thread probably may be subjected to controversy and disapproval in every known encounter ever made. This thread will adapt technological devices to suit Minecraft's feel.
Redstone!
I'll just discuss first how Redstone is used here. Or not.
First Item on the list: Remote control.
Remote Controlling
-Redstone based crafting recipes that revolve around wireless activation.
-Used to flick levers, buttons or switches from afar.
-Can be used to detonate TNT.
-Can be used in conjunction with other devices.
Remote Controls are used in TV's, cars and in most of modern day's devices. Minecraft, as we all know, isn't modern so the trick is to work how to adapt the easiness of technology to the hands-on world of Minecraft.
A Redstone Switch, made of wood, an iron ingot and Redstone. It has one button which you can press anytime by right-clicking. You can right click a lever, button or Redstone sensitive object to tie it with your switch. That means that object will follow your Switch. This can be used on levers, buttons, pressure plates, Torches, Redstone dust, dispensers and TNT and anything else I've missed. It could let you activate traps without the need for detectable roads of wires that could stop your whole entire trap in in its tracks. This allows you to set up traps with less chance of being detected. Dispensers are VERY effective with the Switch because you can fire it anytime, anywhere as long as the dispenser has ammo. TNT piles can be set up in places and can be connected with the Switch to explode! Better rig your base more securely or else... Boom is gonna go blow up that house.
Another key part of Remote Controlling is the Redstone Wire. It is crafted by 3 Redstone in a straight line. It is used to connect two things. For example, if you wired a chest with TNT then when someone opens the chest the TNT is set off. You can use this to rig several objects by making loads of wiring and connect them all, thus setting them all if any of them is triggered. This, along with a Redstone Switch, gives way to large scale control, and a Veeeery complex Redstone system involving synchronized activation.
That is the first step. Redstone Switches are the Remote controls and Redstone Wires are electric wires. The following items can be rigged using these two key parts.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________ Computers
-Can store data like pictures and text.
-Can store loads of data.
-Can transfer it to other computers.
Computers. They are, in the real world, is where we play Minecraft. We play computers in a computer... I just got a bad case of compuception. Anyway, computers in Minecraft are made of wood, iron and logs... and Redstone. You can't get enough of Redstone. The computer block can be right clicked to bring up a gui where you can write and stuff. Pictures can be drawed on. You need a memory block to save what you wrote. A storage block is equal for a small space for a few paragraphs and one or two pictures. You can connect it to the storage by placing it beside the computer or using Redstone Wiring as stated above.
You can also print out the text and pictures using a printer block. The block will need dyes for color. Ink Sacs is used for text. Dyes are used for other colors. Without dyes, the pictures will be black and white. It can also work the other way around. You can place maps inside the printer to save or edit it. Paper is also used to print out the things you want.
Computers can also transfer it to other computer via Redstone Wiring.
The use of computers is to store information and pass it on. Maybe books and paper can be used for libraries and stuff, but computers can be a good way for long range connection. You can make a semi chat room by sending the other computer a page, let it return, and talk back.

Not yet done, since I forgot most of the important stuff for the other things. Anyway, the point of this idea is to incorporate the easiness of technology as much as possible.
This takes away the feel of minecraft well the computer anyway maybe think of simple like ummm a BOOK
So, instead of giving me palpable criticism you just tell me that it doesn't fulfill the purpose I gave it? You disappoint me. A 'BOOK', from your child-like stupidity, is for personal or small range use. Taking away the feel of the game is when you get bionic enhancements and you can rip up a forest with your fists and teleporting to whatever the hell you wanna go to!
"A BOOK", in my mind, can be written on but cannot be edited, cannot be thrown a hundred meters to reach another person FAR FAR away. My computer, that "takes away the feel of your mind," is a small goddamn box with redstone that apparently can magically place it in storage and can lick it on paper!
How can something you haven't seen yet take away the feel of Minecraft. Go say that to me when this is in the game already, that's when you get good proof.
Seriously.. How can a wooden box that is sprinkled with Redstone inside become THAT advanced?
@Deltavor
I'll rename it so idiots like the one I just talked to won't mistake it for a MODERN computer, as I have stated already in my post.
EDIT: Sorry for the rage but there was this deep throbbing in my head that was making me wanna rage. Sorry.
the computer seems much too complicated and useless to be worth having. If you want a damn computer, build it yourself!
you wont like me when im angry...
I would much prefer a book to leave long messages, and using the world chat to send messages to everyone than use a computer. most servers have a way to send a private message already.
Use your imagination! The crafting table has tools you don't really use! You ARE making them yourself! Only with a limited imagination and superhuman speed of doing so!
Dude i like the ideas of the remote red-stone button or whatever, but computers just went a little bit too far with ideas, maybe when heaps of other cool red stone stuff comes out or someone makes a computer mod then maybe you will be a hero.
Just like the guy who invented pistons.
I think it would be smart to take baby steps to get to computers. Start with things like an automated timer (or something else of the sorts), and then move on to a simple computing machine. Put in an input, set conditions, get an output. I think though that even that would have to be incremented. People have already done it with redstone, so it would just be simplified. But you have have to be able to get to things you don't have right now, most notably, silicon. Silicon is a highly essential need for an actual computer. Also, there would need to be a way to create a screen, something with like an iron case, redstone in the middle, and glass maybe.
