Hey ive got a big idea for notch, how bout keys for doors? keys would be useful for plenty of things, like locking chests, locking doors, and making jails and stuff.
exactly, and thanks rickeno those are good ideas but ive already figured those out, and there jsut not the same as a key, the purpose of the key is for the owner.
Keys were going to be added but were removed due to some weird glitches that made it impossible for one key to be assigned to one door. They were actually for the chests in dungeons at first I think.
I've got a better idea: Combination locks on iron doors.
You wouldn't have to **** around with tons of keys, losing them and getting them mixed up and all... Every time you place an iron door a dialog box would come up asking if you want the door to have a combo lock. If you click no, then it will act as a regular iron door like they do in Minecraft today. However if you click yes then you will set a 3 digit combination. From then on every time you want to open the door, simply right click on it and a dialog box will come up asking you to enter the 3 digit number. :wink.gif:

i actually really like this idea, put it into it's own thread if there isn't already one, and you could even make a combo lock interface as in you rotate small wheels to the correct numbers to unlock the door

or if you wanted a locked door then have an iron door with a button inside so you cant get in.
