I don't know if this has really been suggested like this before, I didn't find anything after a search that some people would deem "not hard enough", but I'm fairly sure that my idea is unique enough that it won't just be complete repetition.repetition if it does in fact e
So, I was watching Jens' Q and A thing, and one person asked about different weapons. So I was thinking, "Well, Different weapons would be kind of dumb, because we've already got Melee and Ranged, and adding different subtypes would kind of seem unnecessary, and also remove the idea of the sword as the core weapon." But then I had a thought. What if there was a way to craft different weapons with different advantages and disadvantages, but you couldn't craft them right away. Instead, you'd have to find blueprints, or something like that, a recipe sheet of some sort, that would "unlock" the ability to craft that weapon. The Idea could extend to other items as well, such as improved tools, or just things that are a little more convenient or effective, not something that is part of the core experience. You'd find these in dungeon chests, I think, which would give them that sense of rarity and value that they kind of should have, although they might be more common, as they're a little more useful than records, which there's another way to get besides.
I'm not sure how this would work exactly, but that's the basic gist of it, so if you like the idea, help flesh it out a bit, because I'm not a game design visionary like a lot of people here are. :tongue.gif: So yeah, just say if you like it or not, and support your reasoning if you think it's a bad idea, I certainly won't cling to it if someone gives me a good reason that it's stupid. it's just a little idea I had, and came partially from the idea of unlockable recipes that was part of that one boss monster thread, where upon defeating the boss, you'd gain the ability to craft a special item. I don't have any ideas for items, but as a game mechanic, what do you think of this idea?
Also, obvious bump is obvious, so sorry for that. I just think this Idea could make it in vanilla Minecraft if developed by someone with more creative vision than Myself.
Good idea, but a little complex for minecraft's simple nature. It would kinda start turning it into more RPG style gameplay. Elaborate on it more. I would like to see where it gos.

NO. Don't click New Thread. Read the rules. I don't give a damn how long or boring they are. If you do not, you will be subject to massive flaming and criticism by yours truly.
Yeah, It could get complex, but I really haven;t played with it enough. I'm not really that good with thinking of ways to improve it like that. I just have the frame, I haven't played the game enough to suggest anything in particular that wouldn't probably be kinda dumb. I'm sort of opening this up to other people, this isn't "my" idea by any means. I'm sort of seeing what other people would think would work for something like this, and if it's something to try suggesting to Mojang if it gets really fleshed out, or barring that, a Mod, or something. I really have no Ideas other than just the idea of getting recipes that you can't make initially without acquiring them somehow. Just sort of an Idea. I want other people to elaborate on it, because My ideas would be really half-baked and stupid. there's a reason I don't usually make suggestions. :|

If I was helpful, funny, or you just feel like it, please press the green + button, it's always appreciated.
