I was playing minecraft the other day, and noticed that I couldn't tell whether I was in a desert, or on a beach(because there was water near me). So I thought, wow, this is dumb, deserts don't look anything like beaches!
I propose that desert sand be darker, more orangish, and there be more sand dunes in the desert. Also, why would there ever be pigs and cows in a desert? Aren't those farm animals? What are they doing in the wild anyway? But thats not the point! Deserts are just like beaches, and it should not be that way!

Dead shrubs, cactus, miles of sand. I can fairly clearly tell when there's a desert.

NO. Don't click New Thread. Read the rules. I don't give a damn how long or boring they are. If you do not, you will be subject to massive flaming and criticism by yours truly.
I Completely agree with you. Biomes should be massive. i have a tundra biome in my world that is so small that i can see 3 other biomes when i'm standing in the center of it. it has 3 or 4 trees in it!
Cows are pigs had to come from somewhere, you know. There are wild cows and pigs, though making them look more like their wild counterparts might be an intelligent idea.
Sure i agree with your statement about how deserts are hard to define from beaches and how animals somehow spawn in desert biomes but one way of countering this would be to have oasises which only occur in large desert biomes around were there is a small pond and maybe a tree surruonded by a little bit of grass in which animals could spawn without any confusion about where these strange animals came from.
Here's how you know: Beach has miles and miles of endless bottomless underwater crevices and underwater mountains. Desert has cactus and small undefined brownish plants that have no name, and lots of cacti, and holes in the ground where there is a water spring.
There you go!
I like this idea. I think that you could also do the opposite thing. Make beaches and water more interesting! Have crabs, sharks, clams, underwater dungeons, coral, kelp, etc. And for deserts, you could have scorpions and camels!

notch likes to judge things too much for too little...
If that wasn't your point what was? I'm fairly sure I just read a rant about it looking the same when it doesn't.

Animals don't spawn on sand.
Therefore animals don't spawn in desert.
The Sun rises in the North! Now these points of data make a beautiful line...
