So, the other day I downloaded a map that looked pretty good with snapshots and everything. When I downloaded the file, it decided to hide a bunch of the folders that I keep my custom-made skins on, which kind of pissed me off.
Instead of having to download things such as texture packs and maps off of Megaupload or Mediafire, what if Minecraft had it's own section to upload maps, which would be on minecraft.net. Then, instead of having to risk downloading it off of a third-party website, you could put it on minecraft.net.
When you upload a texture pack or something off of minecraft.net, it would go onto your account data. When you download the texture pack off of minecraft.net, that account data would go straight to your Minecraft game. This would mean that you download, then can go straight to your Texture Packs page and put it on. Less malware, more texture packs and maps. Fun for everyone. I mean, everyone except the people that make the malware.

Good idea, I support this too. The only downside is that with how much Minecraft.net is down just from logins, downloading files from the Minecraft servers would probably be down a lot too. In that case, I support this as long as there's nothing put into place to stop downloading from anywhere else and installing it manually. I hate games that claim mod support but you can only get mods from them that they have approved from their site.

Been noticing this phenomenon more where people who hold standards that above average are silenced while those with standards lower than average are viewed as pleasant and preferable. No wonder mass media is in such ****.

If this WERE implemented, it would be easier to download it onto minecraft.net. You already have an account, and more people would download it because it's just easier. Only stupid people would put it onto third-party file downloading sites.
Minecraft is a HUGE buisness, and it would be nice of them to put some of it into upgrading the site. It's not like they spend a fortune hosting servers, because they don't do that. If they have over a million downloads, each being 20 American Dollars, that would be 20 million dollars. That would mean that each member of Mojang gets loads of cash. If they do this, they would have to sacrifice the spinning rims on their gold-plated jetskis. What a loss.

I love how you think they spent EVERYTHING on themselves all at once, If they did that, they would be hungry in at most 2 weeks. Oh, and by the way, you can only get Trojans by being an idiot.

Really? When they upgraded minecraftforum.net, the first time I came back on my antivirus blocked a trojan. Even today, it keeps telling me the site wants to use cross-site scripting. You can get Trojans from things that you think you can trust. If you don't know that, you're:
