Being as there is currently no use for slime balls, and yet they can be collected and stored, I was thinking of ways to put them to use. My idea is to be able to craft "gel" blocks with either 4 or 9 slime balls, which when placed behave similar to hydrated farmland, allowing you to plant crops (including sugar cane) without an adjacent water tile. Think of it as a hydroponic gel, useful for smaller but more compact farming operations.
Perhaps the gel blocks would run out of nutrients after a certain number of plantings/harvests, requiring them to be replaced, or perhaps re-crafted with bonemeal to form a nutritious gel block useable for farming again.
Too complex for Minecraft at this moment. Need to simplify things a lot for this to even be thought of having it in minecraft. Plus stick pistons already has a use :biggrin.gif:
