it doesn't fit the theme of minecraft, I think it would make a better mod thena na addition
And what is the 'theme'? Are you really serious? You have to be joking. We have Note Blocks, red-stone circuits, pistons, powered rails, player-made rollercoasters and pixel art...
this game rewards creativity, it's freeform sandbox fun, so on so forth...
players can play how they want;
I think it's perfectly fitting,
people can create their own marvelous light shows! Even match them to music created in game.
Think this with the use of repeaters etc., to put on a majestic display of light.
Sound & Light with notes! Brilliant.
I also think there should be a rainbow version of the block which changes colors every time it's powered on...
They'd be like solid neon lights that when lit emit "colored light" of whichever color (think like a lightsaber)...
a possible recipe could be:
the gold ore is actually a glowstone block, the red flowers represent the dye'ing material you choose, and the red wool is actually redstone.

people- thoughts???
I think colored lights are a good idea though.
I'm not 100% but I'm sure this has been suggested before though.
As for it not fitting the theme, it probably doesn't but adhering to a theme will hurt creative gameplay that this game is based on.
exactly.
how is filtered lighting different than colored lighting? Just not as illumenscent or glowy?
