I dont know, i think it is really obvious, but doors that can be locked... like the locked chest, to open it it requires a password. it is really simple, and would really detour greifers... so ya....
Personally, Id like to just see a key mod or such. Register the key to all locked things (only item kept after death), select the key, right click the item, no need for passwords and such.
Suggested a lot before, and its obvious why we don't need it. 1) You can easily mod this in. 2) In SMP there is LWC plugin which allows locked doors, chests, furnaces, etc. 3) In SSP, you're alone...the only use would be for getting screwed over while being chased by creepers
Please use the search bar to prevent spam of ideas. Griefers can just break through doors anyway. Doors can be locked already with redstone, and the only way to prevent griefers from just breaking it is through SMP mods.
I will say this to all who forget about the Search tool/Are new.
1.) Before posting an idea, use your common sense. 'Would this have already been suggested?' would be a good question to ask yourself (This probably would have Stopped this thread from happening).
2.) If you think your idea is unique, Search the Forums. This is one of the few forums I know that offer the Search feature for free, utilize it (This would have stopped this thread from happening).
3.) If it hasn't been suggested before, and the idea is well thought-out, make a nice descriptive thread explaining your topic in-depth and fully. Make your point, present it well, and if you can, include pictures and Icons. Explain why your idea is good for the game (This last part wasn't really the problem for you!).
Thanks for attempting anyways, and enjoy your day today in the forums.
It would make sense that you can craft locks to put on doors (and maybe chests?)
The way I'm thinking is that right now a door is mob proof, but why exactly can't a zombie figure out a way to open an unlocked door?
Maybe the normal door should just be a simple door that any humanoid shape can open (other players, zombies, skeletons and pigmen). If you want security you need to craft it.
The first level of lock can be a simple wooden crossbar, to by pass this simple lock you will need to click the right mouse button twice (once on the crossbar to remove it and once to open the door), zombies will be too stupid to open this lock.
The next look could be a simple, cabin hook latch. This lock is a bit smaller than the crossbar and will thus require a bit more accuracy to operate (smaller target to click) and it will prevent both zombies and skeletons from opening the lock.
The next looks could be a simple lock that requires a generic key to open, anyone can craft such a key but you can't open the lock without a key.
The next lock could be a lock that requires more uncommon materials, so that fewer people have access to crafting it.
The next could be a simple combination lock.
then a advanced combination lock, and lastly the best lock would be one requiring a unique key that can only be copied if you have one in the inventory (just like how you copy maps).

There's an easy way to get past those, though. Just put a lever next to the "locked" door.
If a server has protection you won't be able to build there.
why dont you just protect the door then?

Now Locked Chests do happen to be a great idea, but doors.. would just be silly cause there are so many ways around it.
