Just a quickie - add 2 more "layers" of redstone (for now, call them bluestone and greenstone) that behave identically, but do not interact with eachother. all will still activate doors/carts etc but will have their own color of torch.
This way you can make much more compact devices by being able to put up to 3 circuit traces on one block - so a single block can have paths of bluestone, redstone, and greenstone, but one of them switching won't affect the other two.
it just takes up a lot of room to make anything useful other than direct triggers.
for example I was trying to make an arrow trap that shot more than 1 arrow when you step on the plate... it needed an oscillator and an AND gate, which is tough to fit in your castle door. overlapping wiring wouldnt completely solve it (gates are still big) but it would help. it would also make large redstone circuits easier to wire (i.e. the adders and displays and ALUs)
EDIT: not sure about coding feasibility since now a "redstone" block will have many more possible states... eh its just hopeful thinking.
I would only like it if the new stone did something besides make wires. Like if it was also used to craft things different from the things redstone crafts.

"in the event of a root uprising i would support the robots, does that make me a bad person?"
