There should be trapdoors on the top part on blocks, just make the recipe on top, not on the bottom. It's actually kind of important. Also, adding blocks to put trapdoors on and then destroying them DID NOT work. So don't say I could have done that. I can't post pictures because I can't see how to do this easily, and this post would be so much better with it. But please just add this. It would help so much.

Currently, hatches attatch to the bottom of a block and open upwards. We need a version that attatches to the top of a block (enabling smooth floors) and opens downward. For ease of use with ladders, hatches that open down should behave like a ladder block when open, to make it easy to players to enter/exit.
We also need an iron counterpart that only opens with an input device/redstone current.

Unlike regular doors that you can change the way it faces trap doors you can not. That is my main concern with trapdoors. Its so hard to make a drawbridge or trap if the trapdoors are bulging out in plain sight.
