Ok now I ahve two Ideas, one which has been suggested many times, and another I'm not sure if it has been suggested at all.
I'll start with the latter:
Crowbars:
-Made by diagonally placing either Stone, Iron, Wood, Gold or Diamond.
-Hasw half the uses of it's material's Pickaxe.
-It can destroy all blocks and takes 3-5 seconds per block
-Although heres the good part, When it destroys either Glowstone, Glass, Grass, or Smooth Stone, you actual get that block instead of getting, Glowstone dust, Nothing, Dirt or Cobblestone. It can also destroy other blocks I forgot to mention such as bookcases, stairs and what not.
My second idea:
Spears:
-Yes suggested before but none the less a good idea.
-Extra 3-5 Block range
-Longer time between hits
-Send the enemy back slightly further.

Why have tiers then?
And no. The point is to gather and craft the dust, glass is too fragile to survive beating with a crowbar, grass can't be magically kept via crowbar, and a crowbar would still break the stone up, making cobble.

The point of the Crowbar is not to beat the block but to wedge it out, and saying that beating grass would destroy it is stupid, ever gone outside and ripped up a chunk of grass with a shovel? Yeah you can do that, yet it doesn't go that way in Minecraft, All your doing is shitting on an idea whit realism, and to be honest Minecraft is pretty unrealistic.

No, I'm shitting on the idea with sense, which Minecraft does attempt to keep a bit of. A crowbar couldn't possibly affect any of these things.
Well, here is my view glowstone and glass would probably break if you tried to remove them with a crowbar. The grass idea is stupid in my eyes as it will grow automatically. Bookcases stairs and smoothstone would work though.
If it has been suggested many time don't suggest it again. Find a thread that explains the suggestion and comment on it there.
