Somebody might've brought up this idea already, but I'd like to bring it up again anyways, since I think this should be allowed.
Notch, as of the current moment, minecarts are not allowed to fit through a wooden door opening nor double wooden doors. I was going to have a system where a detector rail triggered a door to open, and once passed through, a second dector rail would tell it to shut.
It would be great if the same "passing" properties could be applied to all doors (trapdoors, etc) as well allowing ladders to pass through trapdoors, so to speak.
I'm not sure about the ladders and trapdoor part at the end but I support this. It would also be nice if water could flow through as well.

I support ladders and trapdoors , when i was making my basement i find it annoying dont being able to place a ladder where the trapdoor was... anyway is not a real problem , just annoying.

but it can do more than one thing. it's still one block it just has tracks letting carts through at speed.
