Secret doors aren't a new idea, but hopefully this is a unique take on them.
A secret door would function exactly like a regular door. It'd come in wood and iron varieties, iron only opening when activated by redstone.
The difference that makes them secret is that secret doors would copy the texture of whatever block they're placed on. If placed on cobblestone, the door would look like 2 cobblestone blocks. If placed on sand, it'd look like 2 sand blocks. Etc.
Secret doors would only look completely real on one side. Although the other side would share the same texture, it wouldn't fill up the space it's in, leaving a visible indentation in the wall and allowing you to see the block below it, just like a normal door.
This should be useful for security in multiplayer, for devious challenge maps, and it would also help designers who want a wall to look continuous but still allow passage through.
Good, but I have seen better takes. However, your post is devoid of detail.
I left out the crafting recipe, since I don't have one yet. Other than that I think that's pretty much all there is to say about it. What else would you like to know?

Does secret doors really need to come in different qualities? If anything I'm voting that secret doors should be very very weak to compensate. So the door will be invisible, but it will be revealed if it takes any damage.

Perhaps there should only be wooden secret doors then...

Define "revealed"? Personally, I'd have it just reveal for a quick second upon damage. Lets people find it in challenge maps and such, but doesn't ruin it with one punch.
Actually, wouldn't the door be set back in the wall, like current ones? That's enough of a reveal right there.
I think instead of them being easily revealed, they should have the properties of an iron door and only be activated via redstone. That prevents people from running into a building and clicking every block that could be the door. Or maybe it also takes the properties of the block it's on as far as mining time? That would make it seem like an ordinary block.
Also, pistons will be able to do this quite well.

I don't know about this, but I would like to be able to combine a door with a bookcase to make a secret door in the classic "hidden in the book shelf" variety. That and the suggestion I saw a while ago to make torch-levers would really help in making a castle full of secrets. On the other hand, pistons (whatever Notch calls them) may also offer an easy way to make secret doors.

All of that is good. But being activated by redstone would require a switch or circuit, which would be visible...
Why not just give the hidden door some tiny difference from the surrounding blocks? Something subtle enough to require close attention, but still able to be found.

I don't think it should be revealed if it takes damage. It's revealed when you open it.
Doors would be aligned with one side of the block they're in. So an above view would look like this:

An observer on the left side of this would just see a blank wall. An observer on the right side would see a wall with a 1x2 gap in it, blocked off by a wall the next block over. Although it would have the same texture, it would still look like a gap in the wall. To an observer on the right both of these would look the same:

There might be ways of disguising it so the gap seems like its meant to be there. But it would be a bit of a giveaway.

Toggleable? Just use a regular door!
Also, I love this idea.
