New Mob.
Looks much like two vertically stacked stone blocks. Has a face on the lower block, but when not moving the face is nearly invisible (eyes and mouth closed) When mobile, the face appears, and has 4 stubby legs like a creeper. Moves slowly.
Tends to spawn only in mines and deep underground, 0 - 30 depth or so. Spawns only in low light. Can spawn in the nether (perhaps has a cousin that looks like nether rock.)
Like the spider, it can climb walls vertically. Unlike the spider, it can crawl across ceilings just as easily. Also like the spider, it can see through walls.
It will spawn, crawl up a ceiling, and cling to the highest spot and remain immobile when it senses movement in the area.
When there is movement below it, it will attempt to drop onto the target causing great damage (more damage based on height of drop). If the target is not killed, it will attack it (weakly) until it succeeds. It has a ton of armor (stone body) and is explosion resistant. It is also lava resistant (again, stone body).
If it is on the ground, it will look for a ceiling to crawl up to. If it is on the ceiling, it will look for a target. If it finds a target, it will hold still and wait for its chance.

I thin this Mob might be too overpowered. It drops? Ok, but only if it gives a warning of sorts.
It's lava-resistant? Its either that or it isn't, but making it drop AND be lava-resistant, again, too overpowered.

I like the idea though :smile.gif:
yeah, it drops. But it is perfectly still when it senses you coming. So a fairly careful player can completely avoid getting one in the skull.
Plus, once it drops, it is a big wimp. Heavily armored, sure, but feeble attacks and slow as a sneaking player.
The lava resistance isn't critical to me, but I just thought it fit the flavor of a stone beast.
This is a good idea but can you like make it easier? It seems like this is kinda the typical new kind of Minecraft boss.
Well, I don't really see it as that hard. It's like a weaker creeper. It doesn't have a blast radius, you need to be directly under it. It moves slowly, and it has only one serious shot at hurting you.
I like the idea but I agree that it is probably a little overpowered. Thats a simple fix though. Other than that, I totally think we need some sort of deep-ground hostile mob, It would make mining down there more intense and challenging.

Ok, I'm not seeing the overpowered bit. But what if, after dropping, it struggled to upright itself for a bit (very vulnerable) before it could resume attacking?
You could also have it take damage from the drop as well as the target it drops on. Maybe limit how high a ceiling it likes to climb.
When we say it has stone armor, how much damage are we saying it can take? Is it like a normal hostile mob, two whacks with a diamond sword will do it, just resistant to lava and explosions? If that were the case I'd think its great, but if it takes a ridiculous amount of damage on top of everything else I'd say its overpowered.

Ah, ok, I see your point.
When I say "stone armor" I mean it has the equivalent of a suit of iron armor for a player.
Rather than two smacks with a diamond sword, it might take four or even 5.
