Wooden Fences are used for many things. But the fences could be used for so much more if there were different types.
I thought a way to implement this would be to use the wool Dyes. Craft a Dye of your choice inside a bucket, Then it turns into paint. You can paint the fences by crafting the bucket and fence together. Kind of the same as wool.
I thought this was a great idea. And sounds very do-able. Fits the profile of the minecraft way of doing things.
Just give us proper gates on fences and let me make fence from iron!
Well Who do you know that does not paint there fences irl? I see tons of them. White. Blue. it gives alot more things to work with. You could make a pole actually look like a pole by dying it gray/silver. And quite frankly im tired of seeing wooden fences for everyones yard. Would be a nice change. Alot more options
But colored wool already took away SO MUCH SPACE in the terrain.png
This just might wreck some bigger mods
EDIT: Not to mention all the colored buckets.
Yeah, it's not as though a program can be coded to read different textures from different files...
Oh wait, it can.
Well it's not as though Minecraft has a function to call different textures from different files!
Oh wait, it does.
What was your point again?
EDIT: That said, use bowls instead of buckets. I know, it doesn't get you a "bucket of paint", but bowls have only one use currently, and unlike buckets they can be easily mass produced.
If you add multicolored fences then you will run out of space in terrain.png. AND if you add paint, then you lose space for each paint and each object you can paint which eventually fills terrain file.
Who do I know? Well, everyone in my area and every relative I have and none of them painted their fence since wooden fence is pretty if done properly.
And for MCs fences, they are more like fences you use to stable cattle than one you put outside your house but I understand if you like to like in stable or you want your cows to have innovative and arty home.
Im not going to pretend i know anything about codeing. I cant understand the problem with the idea. Anyhow i dont build fancy stables and houses for animals. I want it to look good and creative.
