I think that Minecraft would be perfect on the Wii U. Here are the controls:
Wii U GamePad:
Left analog stick to move(press down to crouch)
Right analog stick to move head(press down to jump)
LZ to break block/attack
RZ to place block/interact with block/item
LT and RT to switch between items in your hotbar
your inventory will always be shown on the gamepad screen
The pick-block key will be configurable
b/x would be drop item
down on d-pad would be chat, right would be command and left would be show players(multiplayer)
You can play in gamepad-mode. This is when the T.V. screen is not used and the full game is played on the gamepad. The controls are the same only a/y open up your inventory.
You can also connect your sd card to your WII U and a little screen will pop up. It will ask you if you would like to to put the texture pack folder onto your sd card so that you can download texture pack(maybe even mods and skins).
There would be online servers and private online servers. Up to 25 people can be on a server at the same time.
You can play split-screen. You can also play with the other type of Wii U controller (the one that doesn't have a screen). The controls are the same as the Gamepad only controls.
I think Mojang should really consider this. It would be REALLY awesome.

If they DO make minecraft for wii U, then you would also be able to play with the wii controller
Tilt controller to change where facing, analog stick (on nunchuk) to move character, c to place block/ interact with object, z to break block/attack, twist controller to switch item in hotbar, a to jump, b to croutch, up on d-pad to open inventory, down to throw item, 1 to talk and 2 for command, and - to show all players.

I honestly think it could work if they were willing to port it. there is already a version for DS that is fanmade, and I can run it on an emulator just fine, however it still isn't the real deal. I would love for it to be ported to the 3DS. plus I don't want to have to jailbreak my 3ds and risk it being bricked if i don't have to.
If you don't believe me go here and look at the site for it.
Remember, this was made for the DS and the 3DS has much better graphics and a better CPU, there could be Infinite terrain, survival mode, and weather. assuming Mojang were to code it properly.
It does indeed have a better CPU and GPU, but it still has half of the required RAM necessary.
The 3DS would be able to run definite-scope LARGE worlds, but not infinite. Basically enough to run in whatever portion is still available. Assuming every byte of the 3DS's memory was reserved for world storage alone, You'd be looking at 128MB of ram to hold and update the world.
A given chunk is 16w x 16l x 256h (unless this has changed, again). If you only represented each block as a single bit (it isn't), then you could have 16,384 sq chunks (128x128). Since each block is NOT represented by a bit, but rather by the sum of 2 bytes, we have to apply math to it to get true values. 1024 sq chunks when all is said and done. This means you have a grid of 32x32 (still a lot to play with, but by no means infinite.
There is hope, though. Let's say we set a cap on the world at 50MB of storage (possible), we have 400 sq chunks to play with or 20x20 chunks. This is enough to generate a world, have a few adventures, et al. but not enough to capture the spirit of MC.
Now, the world doesn't start as a 20x20, but once you reach a certain threshold, you literally have Out-of-memory issues which means a hard-finite cap must be established.
What I'm trying to say is that the 3DS is certainly POWERFUL enough to run MC, but it, by no means has enough RAM.
You must remember Nintendo is very crafty. They do not only make games, they make game consoles.
One of the advantage of cartridge basted system is,the cartridge can be used for a lot more then just storing the game data,it can "act" as added hardware,Nintendo has done this before with SNES(Super FX chip).
In short, the cartridge could be used as extra RAM.
Except it couldn't. The cartridge is, for the most part, ROM. Lately, it has had large amounts of storage to hold multiple save data.
Even if it theoretically could be used as RAM, it wouldn't be fast enough to act as more than a cache. As we all know, cache is not the fastest thing in the universe, but we all agree that it's faster than loading and generating from scratch.
Let's break it down into computer terms relative to current standards.
Older hard drives ran through thick ATAPI cables. Now they're using SATA. Let's look at both.
ATAPI's max throughput is 133MB/s.
SATA's max throughput is 6Gbit or 768MB/s.
compare this with internal ram.
DDR1 ram's throughput (older ram) is 1600MB/s.
DDR2 ram's throughput is 6.4GB or 6400MB/s.
Notice that even SATA, the current standard for transfer from your hard drive/dvd to your CPU is under half the the throughput of DDR and is an EIGHTH the throughput of DDR2 (I used DDR800 as this is some of the most common ram).
NOW THEN:
Throughput of USB 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0, throughput of SD and micro-SD.
USB 1.1 - 1.5MB/s
USB 2.0 - 35MB/s
USB 3.0 - ~420MB/s
SD - speeds dependent on card from 2MB/s, 4MB/s, 6MB/s to 10MB/s.
Keep in mind that in all cases, the game worlds would be forced to be saved onto your SD card for any situation. The cartridge itself would not have enough storage to act as ram if storage it did include. The SD card would be to slow to act as compulsory RAM, and using it as RAM would remove it's ability to be used as storage.
All in all, you have ~90MB to play with on the 3DS after you get through with the OS eating a chunk of it. This is 90MB to run something that chokes computers with 4gigs of ram. Good luck
A legal document that gives a company exclusive rights to the intellectual property of another and bars competitors.
It's not impossible in the real sense that Mojang could up and breach the contract with Microsoft, but they could also be sued into oblivion (pun not intentional) for breach of contract.
Therefore, I ask that you propose a business plan where it is in Mojang's best interest to risk legal recourse and in-house resources (labor and contracting) for a small niche market.
I, for the life of me, cannot see any scenario where Mojang would be willing to risk a deal that's ALREADY proving lucrative in an attempt to secure a system that doesn't even have the ram required to run the IP in question.
I have started this because I am sick and tired of seeing four threads related to consoles on the first page.
This megathread will link back to the gigathread for ease of browsing.
Instead of giving good honest reasons why console MC would not work on the various systems, I encourage everyone to post their own respective opinions here.
I will begin with a few personal beliefs. I actively encourage others to counter this or posit their own views on this idea.
MC ported period
In my personal view, MC will be difficult to port toward any system due to the overhead involved with Java. It would require the removal of the yoke of Java to get MC by using C++ or C# to get the system implementable toward any system. By this time, current systems like the PS3, 360, Wii, DS, 3DS, NGP, PSP, etc. will be old-gen systems in preference of the new next-gen.
The game would require complete redesign of features and playability on a new system. This would completely halt gameplay improvements, bugfixes, content updates, and other features in the meantime.
This would work arguably worse than a PC/mac/linux configuration.
MC on PS3
I know that the PS3 has enough raw power and it can be jailbroken to use linux, this is a feather in the cap; the problem is the lack of ram and the necessity to install Java which presents a problem. And Sony turned down Minecraft, so it can't happen.
MC on Wii U http://www.minecraft...epts-and-ideas/ has one of the best seen suggestions on these forums. It isn't a console war, don't bring one up, but to have a lively discussion about Minecraft's future, Hopper200456 has done a hell of a presentation and it's worth a look. Hopper's thread just got locked because the moderators said to go to this thread, so stop linking to it. Anyway, like I said on his thread before it was locked, both Mojang and Nintendo said they don't want to make Minecraft on the Wii U for a few reasons.
MC on Wii
The Wii, as a system, is not powerful enough through either the system processor nor is it powerful enough through it's GPU to render MC in any playable system. And there's no more Wii games being made ever again, so this should probably be removed from the list.
MC on 360
RELEASED!
MC on DS
The DS simply isn't strong enough. There's also gonna be no more DS games, just like Wii, take this off the list too.
MC on 3DS
The 3DS has the bare minimum requirements to run MC should the MC be optimized out. But it's Nintendo, and they said no.
MC on PSV/EXP-Play
The NGP may work through the android, but this will require android/iphone version of MC, I hear it's indev. No, although it's the same operating system, the Experia Play has those Playstation controls that aren't normal for an Android phone, so Minecraft wouldn't work with it. It would work if you just used the touchscreen though. As for the PS Vita, Sony said no, and even if they did, the Vita is one of Sony's biggest fails (and considering that they made Move and PS Network, that's saying a lot) with under a million sales, it's likely to be cancelled soon.
MC on PSP
The PSP would not work. And it's Sony, and they said no. And they stopped making PSP games.
MC on Android
This is confirmed as well, it's a quick swap over as android uses java to code. It's out now.

When will Minecraft stop updating? When pigs fly over the frozen plains of hell, twice in a blue moon, while Taylor Swift sings a song called, "Maybe I'm the Problem".
Why can't the link stay so people can see what a Wii U edition would look like? :< I mean, yeah it's locked, but people can still see it.
also,
why is everyone saying that Nintendo and Sony turned down Minecraft? Like, officially? Could someone send me the link to where I can read about it?
and,
just because Wii and DS games "aren't being made" (There still are some being made.) doesn't mean they can't be on the list...

There are BlackBerry Z10 and the upcoming BlackBerry Q10.
It's a brand new smartphone developed by BlackBerry, formerly RIM. It has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage. It can even play 3D games!
However, I could see it as Pocket Edition instead.

I'm afraid that that's as close to Minecraft Blackberry will get. But, hey, I love Pocket Edition.
I think that if minecraft is for the wii U, it should be for the wii classic, same thing with DS. Some people have older gaming systems.
