I'm thinking Notch should make Minecraft cross-platform when he releases the Xbox version. This is a Co-op game after all.
What if some people don't have a PC but want to play with somebody that doesn't have an Xbox? (<-- True for me)
I'm not sure if this will make hacking clients easier or just make it plain unfair to the Xbox players.
Another thing is the servers. I'm pretty sure that Xbox cannot host servers. PC's would have to host special severs for cross-platform.
Notch could add a regular minecraft_server.jar and a cross-platform jar for those who do not want Xbox players on their server.
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum or if it is already posted. I wanted to give my thoughts to you people.

Its been done before, (Duh.) Counter-Strike is a cross-platform isn't it? I'm not sure if its cross-platform to PlayStation or PC.
And Team Fortress, right?

...Portal 2 on the PS3 comes with a code, to get the PC version free... And PC can play with PS3, with Portal 2.

Not exactly the point. We've all got to remember, that Mojang is an indie company, void of the same resources as the big guys. If someone wants it cross-platform, then someone will have to hack it in themselves.
Though, if he were to extend to other consoles, here are some control ideas for the Wii U using the Wii remote:
D-Pad - Move X / Move Z
Remote tilt up / down - Face up / down (Tilt Y)
Remote tilt sideways - Turn left / right (Face Z)
A - Attack
B - Place item
1 - Item scroll left
2 - Item scroll right
[+] - Pause menu
[-] - Drop item
In menus:
D-Pad - Select item
A - Jump to quickbar / item menu for selected item placement
B+A (When possible) - Auto-place item in available space (Shift-click)
[+] - Exit menu
Assuming the X-Box version is a straight port of the PC version, this should be easily done (actually, if it's a precise port it should automatically work). Either way, this actually shouldn't be a massive deal.

Nope, Portal 2 is the only CURRENT cross-platform game, but it already has dedicated servers for it. I don't believe it would be possible for home servers to be compatible with LIVE.

So in effect, it would be creating two different Minecraft communities?
Donno if this actually would work for a few reasons:
Even big time game devs can't port easily (seeing as portal 2 is the only current one)
How is the gameplay, is it the same?
(Not sure) But could'nt this need more port forwarding and stuff?
And that's all i could think of, but i don't own an x-box so i don't really care if it gets ported or not.
We have Minecraft for xperia and the xbox 360...what about the Wii?
Possible controls?
Aim=Aim wii remote
Move=Control stick (nunchuck)
Left Click=B button
Right Click=A button
Inventory screen toggle=Up Dpad
Hot bar selection=left/right Dpad
Pause screen=Z button (nunchuck)
Jump=C button
Sprint=1 button
When you're naming your world or making a world seed, you could just click on the name box and type with the keyboard that comes up in some wii applications
other systems, and maybe even change the PC minecraft from java to a better engine since Java is such a res hog.
Notch'll never switch from java... It's his favourite language in coding, and he uses it all the time. Poor old Notch not giving in for better coding systems.
And on topic, this could come but it'd be for Wii-U.
Microsoft signed a exclusivity deal, paying a crap load of money to make sure the game is only on Xbox, so no wii :smile.gif: Also, moving the paddle back and fourth like real mining? OMG That would be too much work.

Also the Xbox freezes way to fast so this will be only good for the PS3
