While I adore the finiteliquid mod (mostly) and would love to see it implemented, you should avoid addressing Notch himself. Many find it irritating, and he rarely if ever reads these forums anyway. Also, many greatly dislike mods being forced onto the vanilla game.
A great many would sob over their glitch-exploiting ways being thwarted. I hate all of those people.
Though if oceans were ever extended to become content-rich biomes in their own right, the water in that mod would look far better for the game as it's somewhat see-through.
I think it's safe to say, Notch won't add it. He apparently has a thing about coming up with stuff on his own. I can't really begrudge him that.
What might happen, though, is that Notch could end up replicating a lot of its features and functionality, just by doing his own thing.
If that happens, you won't see any complaints from me about it. As a rule, I avoid using mods, but I love that one. It's very tempting to make it an exception to the rule.

Yeah, sums it up pretty nicely.
I’m all for finite water, but this isn’t the way to gain support for it.

Then I’ll add it later, been bouncing some ideas and thoughts on my friends, one of them is this.
At the moment we’re buzzy with the exams, but the plan is to post some treads after I’m done. When I have more time to make sure as much is consistent, and my friend can make some pictures to illustrate the concepts.

That'd be neat. Then if thirst is ever added, saltwater would be invalid for that purpose.
Even better, make saltwater have the opposite effect for "realism". Then it would make you even thirstier! It may just be me but the idea of noobs drinking saltwater until they die is pretty amusing.

Curse PremiumAs I mentioned in a previous post, why not saltwater, which would be infinite. And fresh water, which would then be finite?
That way, you still can make some crazy water contraptions, but fresh water is still vital.

That would make me crazy happy.
