The "Ambushers" are two mobs, an archer and a warrior both day mobs. They have a switch under difficulty named Day mobs:
The mob:
The ambusher warrior: has five heart and a iron sword, but it only deals three hearts worth of damage every hit. When they see you they wait one second before charging at you, to let the archers arrow weaken you first.
The ambusher archer: has three hearts and a bow, which deals one and a half hearts worth of damage.
They both either drop flint, clay or very rarely a piece of iron ore
Mechanics:
When the players loads up a new world in a biome near him will be a encampment a group of eight (archer or warrior randomly picked) will wander around like chickens marked by a couple of stone strong blocks (tents, tombstones) placed forests, caves or hills, basically any where but a plain where it is easy to spot. If a encampment is present in your biome you are subject to the following:
Ambushes: Anywhere (but in a plain) you may be attacked by a group of five ambushers coming from all sides these are fairly common and will occur around 0-2 times a day,
Raids: In a house (or any man made structure) eight ambushers will all come from the horizon and attack you, if you are not present the place will have encampment blocks placed in it, otherwise you can fight them off, if you die it will suffer the same fate as if you were not there.
These will not happen if you destroy the encampment blocks.'
Spreading: Every 5 minecraft days a new encampment block is created making it harder for you to get rid of them, ambusher and raids will only happen if there is a encampment block in your biome, raids will happen if there are over two encampment blocks. Each time a block spawn it will spawn aprox 50-80 blocks away from the original that's how it spreads from biome to biome.
Ambushers are weak so that the player can restore from the creeper attacks from the night before a briefly prepare for the upcoming mobs.
They are loosely described because I could not decide whether it they should be lizard men, a undead horde or a group of bandits.
Lizard men:
Provide a nice minecraftish atmosphere
Undead:
Again, minecraft atmosphere and Notch would not have to make new models or sounds. And tombstones would only take one space.
Bandits:
I think with the human as vanilla the player could customize their enemies more freely with human death sounds, but would ruin the atmosphere of you and the others on the server being the last humans.
I realize that, perhaps have it just ambush you, I, and many others, personally just want something to kill, I put this thread in retaliation of threads for day mobs that suggested things that were too strong. And sometimes randomly spawn and act like sheep that attack you at sight?

This is a second idea involving lizards I see today. Was there a new movie about lizards recently or something?
