With the addition of dead trees and wild grass randomly popping up on the map, I thought of the idea to have bones just laying about on the map, probably most often (if not always) in the desert biome.
For example, you see this all the time in movies, etc. There could be something similar with random bone piles in dungeons or deep caves to add to the creepy factor.
You guys can decide on this part, since I'm not sure how it would go over with the community: The bone piles/skulls could have a chance when broken to yield bones (or bonemeal) and thus give a method of acquiring it on peaceful mode at the cost of exploration time instead of the risks of fighting.
Hm. I'm no expert on programming, but it seems to me there might be a very simple way to do something like this - have the bones that skeletons drop have a 50% chance of not de-spawning in certain biomes.
Although a 'bone pile' "plant" block would work, too.
I've been playing in a desert biome a bit lately, and I find that the existing bones do a pretty good job of adding a desert atmosphere. Every morning, you get more bones lying about in the desert, so you never have to worry about running out of them.
I guess another thing that could be cool, would be if cows caught on fire at high noon in desert biomes, and then dropped bones.

I love these ideas. Like lets say you were exploring a cave or a dungeon and you came across one of these so called corpses. They could just be a few blocks that spawn next to each other to create the shape of a corpse, and when busted these blocks will yield a few bones each. However, these blocks would also have to be phantom blocks like tall grass or flowers because it would be a huge pain if you were bumping into them while exploring. Although I do believe there may be some hang ups if the world generator would be spawning these blocks; meaning they may not be lined up correctly or all of the blocks may not even be present.
Maybe passive mobs could have the same chance to spawn in deserts as they currently have on grass, but they instantly catch fire and drop bones. Just do the same thing that was done for pigs on fire, for the rest of the mobs:
cows on fire = skulls
sheep on fire = bones
pigs on fire = cooked porkchops
chickens on fire = ???

I'm quite the shady customer.
