Please note that I do not know how fulgurite works in real life, so this won't be very accurate, but this is minecraft... so yeah:)
Ok so to start, fulgurite is what happens when lightning hits sand IRL (if you didn't already know that) and there were already some threads for this but that was just to make glass, it couldn't benefit you in any way, but here's my idea:
Strong Glass: When lightning hits sand, it creates fulgurite "ore", ore's in parenthesis because you know... it's not actually ore. You have to mine the fulgurite ore with a pickaxe, and then put it in a furnace to burn the sand off of it, then it would be in the form of a glass ore. You can then put a single bar of fulgurite into the crafting bench to make "strong glass" which can't be broken unless by a player, this glass is also immune to explosions from creepers, and since fulgurite will probably be rare if you go legit, you get 4 blocks of strong glass for each ore, you can't get strong glass back unless using a gold pickaxe (only to give gold another use).
Armor: When you craft glass armour in the furnace, it appears as that piece of armor, but it appears as bars stacked on top of each other, you have to put that piece of armor into the furnace and it'll come out clean (this is only to make it so this idea's a little bit realistic). Fulgurite armor's as strong and durable as iron armor, but there's something that makes it special. For each piece of the set you have equipped, half a heart is taken off from creeper damage (.5 less damage) plus normal armor protection so...
Easy: 3.5 per explosion (not including iron armor protection)
Normal: 8 per explosion (not including iron armor protection)
Hard: 8.5 per explosion (not including iron armor protection)
Peaceful: insta-kill
No tools :tongue.gif:
EDIT: And to balance it out, the armor doesn't protect from any heat related damage
This seems unneeded given the rarity of lightning in general, especially lightning striking sand.
Glass should never be immune to creeper explosions. (Obsidian isn't a glass in this game, before anyone brings it up). Breaking it and getting a glass block back, or it being stronger than normal glass would be fine.

The armor is a no.
All in all, it's...Meh.
you smelt it, then use the craft bench to make stuff out of it
