So, we all know that maps are great. We also know that notch is planning a few more goodies to add. But I have a few suggestions that I think would make them a little cooler.
First off, being able to mark and label certain parts of the map would be very useful. While you can build markers by hand, they would have to be fairly massive, and having a giant square in the middle of the plains can ruin otherwise perfect landscapes or constructions. So, when notch implements being able to place maps on walls, I think that you should be able to right click it, showing the map in the whole screen. From here, you can drag dyes from your hotbar onto the map and place a small dot in the color of the dye. This would be very useful for color coding specific areas (caves, dungeons, etc) Or for showing new members around your server.

Either way these are all in my mega-thread so please search next time
I searched "map markers" with no results.
Did you not see my signature?
I see it now, and my idea is different.
By a small margin. Right-clocking on dye vs. small icons or drawing dots on via GUI.
True, but if I put it on yours it would go unnoticed. It's different enough to have its own thread.
By putting in my thread it would bump it. Thereby it is possible to get noticed.
