The vampire. The night-stalker, destroyed by sun, fire, and stakes... and now in Minecraft!
Spawning and Killing
Vampires usually spawn in caves and dungeons, and rarely spawn in man-maded areas. They also only spawn in complete darkness.
Killing vampires is possible, but is extremely easy with a stake (wooden sword), flint and steel, and, of course, sunlight.
Swords: I edited out stakes, as they did the exact same things as swords would. 'Stakes' are insta-kill to the heart, and do severe damage. To the idiot that keeps spam-bashing me, yes, anything can kill a vampire, wooden swords just do more damage.
Flint and Steel damage and Sun Damage: Since Vampires actually have a weakness for them, vampires will be killed quicker than normal mobs. Vampires return to their spawn point when the sun comes up, or the nearest dark place.
Relationships w/ Mobs and the Sun/Moon
Vampires will occasionally kill pigs, but a pig killed vampire will not drop anything no matter what because the vampire did, in fact, eat the pig.
Vampires do not prey on other mobs, and cannot team up with other mobs. Wolves will kill them if you attack.
Sun - Vampires are neutral while the sun is out, but they are usually in a deep, dark place. They will also, as do spiders, try to kill you if you try to hurt them.
Moon- Vampires will come out at night, and will adjourn slightly before sunrise. Vampires do not need the night-time to spawn, as they spawn in places of complete darkness.
You - If a vampire kills you, they do not collect your stuff, and if you had a bucket with you, it will be filled with Blood when you return to it. Blood is basically show-off water, and is not edible. If you have a Blood bucket with you, a vampire will most definitely attack you.
Drops
Vampires traditionally will drop Glowstone or Redstone dust, OR gunpowder.
Vampire Dungeons
Dungeons that spawn Vampires in them will:
*Be canceled if even one torch is placed directly next to it.
*Have Coffins nearby
*Usually have extra spoils
*Spawn rapidly, with not only vampires, but other evil mobs.
Vampire-Related Items
BLOOD: Blood, as I mention before, is just red water that attracts vampires. YOU drop it when your cause of death spawns from a vampire.
COFFINS: Near Vampire dungeons you will always find Coffins. What are they you ask? They are basically beds. Except, they have these nifty traits:
*Mobs cannot wake you up inside of them
*They do not reset your spawn point
*If surrounded by cobwebs in a crafting bench, are called 'Sticky Coffins' and will stick anywhere, although where you right-clicked it will be where you wake up
DUST: When you kill a vampire with the stake insta-kill method, you will get dust. Dust currently does not have any uses, at all.
Peaceful?
I'm not exactly sure if they should spawn on this difficulty. hm.

Basically it's a mob that's virtually guaranteed to **** you up ("Well, it's POSSIBLE to beat it") unless you're carrying a stick with you.
How, exactly, does this contribute to the game besides making people who don't slash everything in a paranoia way with a stick ragequit? And peaceful is for those builders that are paranoid that don't want to be killed instantly while making a tower of Babel. Without a vampire ****ing them up. Stick with the mob spawning pattern bro.
Blood: It's just red water. You drop it when you die. And vampires ("Vampyrs") are attracted to it.
Yeah, totally for 8 year olds. Minus the blood that floods ****ING EVERYWHERE when a ****ING VAMPIRE SLITS YOUR NECK BEHIND YOU. Oh well. It's not that bad. And then you can "Sleep" in coffins. Perfectly normal... When Steve had his neck slit by a vampire that he could've easily killed. If only he had a stick on him instead of TNT bombs, Diamond swords, a golden Hit n' Run sword, golden apple, full army, and using Art of War tactics. And STICKY COFFINS. If you cover it with a nonexistant item for hackers, you get to die on the ceiling. Yup. It's that useful.
Oh, and killing a vampire gets dust?
Which currently has no use at all?
Oh great, another F%#!cking item that does nothing that spams my chest.
The more nooby suggestions that exist, the more important my incinerator becomes.
Wrong sir, wrong. YOU stole the fizzy lifting drinks and YOU touched the ceiling, therefor it must be washed and sterilized! So you get nothing! You lose! Good day sir!

That 'stick' is just your weapon of choice. Although it takes longer, Vampire can be killed with any weapon. I gave it an insta-kill and better damage because that stakes are what kills vampires, no matter what...
Oh, and also, if you don't like the dust, throw it into an effin' lava pit. I'M SURE THAT THE DUST IS NOT A REAL REASON TO HATE THE IDEA.
What is the use of an item with no uses? There's no reason to like it. It does nothing. But take up coding and room.
The stick does insta-kill, although the Diamond Sword isn't that good against it (You seemed to suggest around 1-2 hearts with a diamond sword?). That's terribly unbalanced. You're ****ed if found carrying war gear but own him in a second with a stick...
As people in england say, that's bloody stupid. Or rather, "Red water" stupid.

Oh. Because a diamond sword can't eventually kill him. Read a suggestion before you bash it.
Oh S***. Umm... ha ha... maybe a wooden sword would be better... because even though it's not traditional... um... I'm editing the topic now. I just realized your argument about using a stick was worth something. And please stop editing your posts, I tend not to look at them.
AND BY THE WAY. VAMPYRS IS A JOKE. I ADDED IT FOR GOOD FUN. GO AWAY.
Then, the wooden sword! Because it really makes a big difference. My battlegear is totally fail against the vampire, and as it slits my neck, my last thoughts are that I should've brought a moldy wooden sword...
Oh wait. I click a hacked coffin on the ceiling and die until the morning. Where I can see a pool of red water.
