From wiki: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Pigman, it clearly states that Notch might add Pigman villages to the game. So here's a suggestion, with the following conditions:
1) Notch really adds pigmen + villages into the game.
2) The amount of gold ore found increases.
Currently, gold ingots/blocks have not much use except for building rails, golden apples (red apples are real scarce) and of course for decoration.
So comes currency. By placing one gold ingot on the crafting table, we could probably make gold coins for trading purposes (with the pigmen. who else?). 1 gold ingot = 5 gold coins for example. And the said gold coins cannot be converted back into gold ingots again.
If pigmen villages were implemented, they would be able to have shops in the game -- remember the locked chest thing? ^^
So, while pigmen have shops, Steve (namely you that is...) can buy items from their shop(s). They could sell stuff like fishing rods, arrows, bows, armour and even things like apples, golden apples or wheat. Well... Anything other than saddles and porkchops.
This also eliminates the need for currency (slimeballs) in some multiplayer servers, whereby everyone has an equal amount of gold coins at the start, and as they mine more gold ore, they can make more coins = more money to purchase stuff from whoever sells you the item(s) in the smp server.
Any comments? :biggrin.gif:

Multiplayer does that for you. Human interaction does that for you. I'm sorry if I didn't rad the thread, but I think the general concept of currency is trading cash for stuff.
Want something from the Pigmen? Go on Multiplayer and tell everyone to wear Pigmen skins. Problem solved.

yes, multiplayer does that for you. but look: we need a proper currency don't we?
plus yes, trading cash for stuff, in which the gold ingots you find are = to the cash you use to trade for stuff, the currency pigmen use.
and going to smp and telling everyone to wear pigmen skins just for a trade? wtf?
PLEASE READ THE THREAD.

Just read it.
Go on SMP and tell everyone "Hey, let's all go make this the Official Pigman Server!" with everyone's default a Pigman skin (they can edit). Humans=Trade. There, problem solved.
And I prefer if you 'convert' stuff into other stuff of same worth. That be too high tech but with electricity..

right that would work on smp. ssp?

I really don't see the point of buying something I can craft myself...
well, those are just examples of what you can buy. maybe you could even buy cacti and sugar cane from the shops if you're in a biome without them to save you the need of running all over the place with a map just to find sugar cane/cacti. or if you're all out of clay and they're scarce where ever you are, you could buy them from the shops.
well... it's not limited to those things though...

So instead of running around for cactus and sugar cane, I'm running around looking for shops that sell it? Either way, I'm still running around looking for something, only with the latter I need to have a sufficient amount of gold coins on me to actually get what I want.
Personally, I wouldn't mind coins so much if the coins themselves could be used in a crafting recipe or two so they could have a use outside SMP, if Pigmen aren't intelligent enough to open shops.
