First of, this isn't so much a suggestion as it is help to develop an idea for a suggestion.
Lately I have been thinking that the player should be able to get a hold of blocks that once placed instantly creates a structure. It could be everything from things you the player have created the blueprints for yourself, to pre-made stuff either from other players or from Mojang them self. This block would then allow you to instantly move things you have design from one world to another, enjoy the creations that other people have made, or maybe even be able to buy the structures.
Such a function would also allow the game to randomly generate some of the buildings into the landscape. That way you might explore a forest or a hill side and stumble over a small hut, or even a large castle.
This would without a doubt make exploring the land more thrilling.
I guess that in a way this would be created much in the same way as dungeons are currently placed randomly around in the maps.
Although it would sometimes be practical to be able to instantly spawn a complete camp, I think this should be used mostly for structures that are more interesting/pretty than useful. Imagine finding a block to create a large pyramid in a dungeon, and then spend a few hours exploring your newly spawned pyramid. Or you could be unlucky finding that the instant structure block only gave you a boring 3 block high smooth stone pillar.
So does anyone have any input here? Is this the worst idea ever or may this actually turn out to make minecraft more fun?
I think that this would take out a lot of the creativity from Minecraft. Minecraft is about building your own things, not borrowing other people's buildings.
I think that the only way this might work is if it takes the materials from your inventory. So if you try to build a castle, it will only generate as much as it can with what you already have.
But then again, it is taking away from the essence of Minecraft, which is building and crafting. I'd suggest more of an NPC that would slowly build a premade model, that you can either build yourself, or select from a list in the menu. This is assuming of course that Notch adds NPCs into the game, or they're a plugin of sorts for the upcoming Adventure mode.
