I've recently suggested a few blocks with the ability to move already placed blocks, roller blocks and chute blocks. They're designed to be used with pistons to create all kinds of block delivery and placement systems.
Here's a new block idea that could work very well with pistons, rollers, chute blocks, and allocators (a popular suggestion). But even if rollers/chutes/allocators are never added, they could still be used with just pistons if necessary.
The saw block would look like an upright circular buzz saw. It must be activated by redstone to spin, otherwise it remains inert.
When a piston pushes a block into an active saw, or chute drops a block onto a saw, or a roller carries a block into a saw, the saw instantly breaks the block back into a collectible item.
If allocators were also added then saws would allow complex systems to transport blocks, break them, and move them back to crates for long term storage. Otherwise it could just deliver the items in easy-to-pick up form to a player.
Interesting concept, especially seeing how you have to move the blocks to it for it to be useful. But can't this already be done for many blocks with 2 pistons crushing the block?

Doesn't that disable the piston?
