For those of us who have had read enough medieval stories would have noticed that wolves were real terrors, while in minecraft seeing a wolf is a very pleasant sight. My idea is that wolves could occasionally ambush the player, in any biome but planes and the savannah and would usually spawn near a hill or a mountain. and would come to you in all directions, they will not spawn underground but will spawn during the night. It would also be possible to see groups of 6 that each have three and a half health (feel free to change depending on the difficulty) and 3 damage each hit. They're rather like normal wolves in their following script and will attempt to jump over obstacles. Since the next update is called the adventure update I find this very suiting. Seeing a pack of deadly wolves and having to sneak past them, trying to defend your outpost from a wolf invasion or being ambushed by a pack of wolves could be scenarios. Wouldn't require a enormous amount of work and I think it beneficial to the combat aspect, maybe keep you cautious in the day. Wolves should not be too difficult to kill is they would possibly represent the day mob. Hope you enjoy
I actually thought wolves were going to attack you at night when they were first added. You know, similar to spiders. I think this is a great idea, it would make forests seems so much more... terrifying

It sounds cool, but you have obviously never fought a wolf. Believe it or not, they are freaking HARD to kill. They do a whole lot of damage, have plenty of life, are fast, and four coming at you at once would kill you in a second. I never though I'd say this, but I don't want minecraft to be that difficult.
How about instead of making immediately hostile wolves, he makes it so that when a single wolf is attacked it triggers all non tamed wolves in the area to attack. That way if you fight one you fight the whole pack.

That already happens valdark, but that's like if you had to give a creeper permission to explode in your face

I realised this is incredibly difficult considering their stats, sorry 5 and a half health and 3 hearts seemed fair since I mainly play hard mode. Maybe make them the standard wolf, and reduce their group numbers to six, this would make you have to fear them while still not making them too hard so you can still build in the morning while they raid you.
A wolf attack is an attack on a human by a wolf or wolves. Under normal circumstances, wild wolves are generally timid around humans. Wolves usually try to avoid contact with people, to the point of even abandoning their kills when an approaching human is detected,[1] though there are several reported circumstances in which wolves have been recorded to act aggressively toward humans.
act aggressively =/= kill. But they could still take a few chunks out of you and then run away.

@OP- Why did you list "wolf enemies" twice?
