I was thinking it'd kinda be cool to have a note or a notebook you could leave for someone to read, instead of using signs.
It'd work similar to a sign, but you would be able to type more things on it, thus making it better. You can place it on the ground or on the wall (like it's taped onto the wall), and when you place it a gui comes up allowing you to type your note. When someone sees the note, if they right click on it a gui would come up allowing them to read it.
To make the notes, you will need a pen, which is made with an ink sack and a stick, or maybe an ink sack and a feather.
To make the note, you will put a piece of paper and a pen together, thus making a note.
Now if you put a few notes together, it will make a notebook, similar to how paper makes a book. If you place this note book it will bring up a gui similar to the note gui, and there will be arrows on the side of the gui that will let you make a new note, and when someone right clicks on this notebook they will be able to read the notes you have written.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't really sure if I should put it in mod suggestions or here.

Notch might already be planning to add something like this:

At the moment the map doesn’t work at all in multiplayer, but that’s my next task. The code I write to support that will also be possible to reuse in the future for things like books and notes written by players, and possibly even custom paintings/hand drawn signs.

I totally agree to this idea I think it would be very interesting to be able to keep a notebook or journal etc and you could even name the book (that would appear on the cover) and right click it and it would open and you can flip through pages it would make maps with a lot of rules much, much easier totally support you on this.
